Has there been any real proof of kittens in Iowa/Mo? The coming from black hills is the real deal - I have not seen lion sign much if any since SD opened the lion season 5-6 years ago. They just got too many for the habitat and had to go somewhere. Before they opened the season I was regularly seeing tracks/scat.

Lol you guys are too funny. It is a bit different in the lion vs human world, if the young males do not leave they are killed by the adult males. That is why we see them here in midwest. This crap about dnr releasing them is just that a bunch of crap.

Yeah....but they are not telling the truth....."There are no mountain lions in MO" Then you show them a trail cam pic. "It must be a lone male drifted in from Colorado" ......With kittens? They've acknowledged Lions in Mo, years ago.

There is no proof of kittens. If they were here they would be seen much easier than the males being seen.
Same ole coffee shop story is everywhere, Yep did you know the DNR is releasing them. And friend of a friend shot one and the DNR showed up to get the radio collar or ear tag.
I have to laugh at all the people that believe this crap.

Steve,I hear every farmer tell that story round here lol. They get plumb offended if you try to tell them otherwise.Ask the same farmer if he ever saw a bobcat. Most haven't and they are fairly common anymore.
I think of all the sightings and evidence that's been confirmed, only one was a female and may have been an excaped one.The MDC never said there weren't mountain lions, just no breeding here.
Heck,a few years ago there was a moose that wandered down from up north.Reckon they're breeding too lol?

Too many people have told me about lions with tracking chips. Their stories all line up and ends with the MDOC showing up. I know one man that would rather die than lie and he saw a military helicopter drop one off. I have seen cougers twice. There was one splatted up on the highway (female) The neighbors had a 800#heifer with her throat tore out and huge claw marks 6 inches wide down her neck. The CA said that it was obviously the the work of a coyote. Old Sutcliff kept cool and told the CA that he obviously wasnt real smart. If I want to know the TRUTH about something then I sure dont look at the tweeked government statistics.

It's funny how a thread that started out about season lengths and 8 pages later, talking about mountain lions. LOL!!! It also goes to show how mountain lion sightings get all blown out of proportion!!!! LOL They are without a doubt here, but like John said, people rarely see a bobcat, but EVERYONE seems to have encountered a mountain lion. I spend LOTS of time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping and such and have NEVER encountered a mountain lion, but most other people, who rarely spends any time in the outdoors, seem to have all seen one. hmmmm!!!

Good luck, I hope you do. I have been trying to see one for well over a decade. No luck yet!!! I've seen three so far and two black bears. Back in 1980 or 81 my Dad and I watched a pair of cougars walk thru our creek bottom when we lived in Morgan Co. The following year saw a black bear roaming the shoreline where the creek emptied into Lake Ozark. Saw another black bear and another cougar here in Audrain Co. since then. Maybe your just not in the right places Robbie. Heck my Dad and my Uncle said they killed a cougar when they were teenagers growing up here in Audrain. That would have been back in the mid to late 30's.
