All doomed.......A longer season or a semi-submerged coni is a no brainer and everybody just has to scream like a scalded hound. I am sure the MDOC would be impressed by all our viewpoints. As far as the cat skull thing, I coughed mine up no problem as the skulls already had bullet holes in them. A pathologist could find out what they need off of a leg bone or something like that. The MDOC has enough money to burn a wet elephant so I am a little skepticle of what they want. They seem to turn their nose up at roadkill and ADC catches which is a huge resoarce of an otherwise wasted product. Maybe they should ask deer hunters for a slice of the deers antler?

They count the rings in the teeth to age, same as deer Mike. Actually they did take tissue samples of the areas surrounding the CWD area,to determine if anymore deer were affected

Just curious of those that cry about turning in the jaws, how many harvest the canine teeth, glands, baculums, and other parts from animals for sell? Seems that one using the arguement of the skulls being worth money they would also sell any part that would generate income.I sell the top canines of cats for $.60 to a dollar apiece, same as coyotes except I have a market for their skulls right now.I sell all my undamage skulls with the exception of cats and otters.

I resorce everything that I can off the critters that I take, either for myself or for sale product. Hell, I have bags upon bags full of beaver/bobcat meat in the freezer. Glands galore rendering in mason jars, black oil bubbleing up everywhere. Needless to say John, I made more off my skulls this year then I did the pelts. I did how ever send in a bobcat and otter skull that I had from last year. Both critters cainines were nothing but nubs.
And dont forget on how the cattle farmer whipes out habitat. I have seen butt loads of timber tracks taken out, just so they can fence it in, sow some grass in the place of trees, so they can graze more cattle.
Nobody gives a crap about wildlife anymore these days, its all about the ol mighty dallor. Just like the regs.

I have never had a damages cat skull in my life, not a single bullet hole or crushed skull. My worst skull was due to worn out teeth of an ole bitch. I have a market for all my skulls. Also sold all my cat feet. Use all the glands for lure, and meat for bait.
MDC can pony up $5 per skull if they want them and that is cheap, should be $7.

The only reply to that is I hope your short sightedness doesn't cost the rest of the trappers in the state a lose of one or more seasons of bobcat or otter trapping ,Steve. It may never come down to the anti's halting or otter or bobcat harvest(I pray not)but it is alot easier to fight a battle with ammunitions in hand than try to load up after the battle starts. All one has to do is look at other states that are fighting such battles.Calif. has more cats than any other state with the exception of Texas, but have very little data compiled on bobcats and they are starting to be worked on by the antis.

It is simple John. They can force the collection (like Nevada), or pay.

And dont forget on how the cattle farmer whipes out habitat. It is ridiculous bad out west. Cattle totally destroy the public land (national forest and BLM). It is alot worse out there because they get so little moisture compared to us so it takes a long time to come back. Then they tell you to not drive off road to protect the habitat ...

That wouls be pretty heavy handed and just create more problems. Especially since the feds have relaxed tagging standards and other states now issue CITES tags in advance! Any left over tags are just saved and used the following year.
MDC agents are tired of being delivery boys for these CITES tags.

its an inconvience for both parties... I don't know why country buyers couldn't tag some of them.....

BigJohn, apparently you do not understand the concept of the MDC working with and for the sportsman. Why do trappers have "to request" information? Why isn't it readily shared?? If the MDC wants cooperation it needs to give it in return!

When you trap out of state and experience the difference between state wildlife agencies.....it is amazing how much more information is distributed by some states.
