We started our honey harvest with the understanding that temps would be high of 80. Big difference between 80 and 90 in a beesuit. With that said, the tail end of the process was more miserable than usual.

Checked out a coyote job to check out today. Ground so dry and hard, no way you'll find any tracks.
Told the fella it was just too hot to set up today and I'd set it up tomorrow.

Neighbor put up hay and the coyotes were out in force after mice. And yes, too hot to give chase.

Set it up today and was sweating like a hog.
Ground is so hard and dry that I had to drill a pilot hole for earth anchor.

What a difference a day makes. 56 here this morning with a nice north breeze. Wished we'd have gotten some rain though.

59 and sprinkling this morning. 65 degrees right now. We need about 2 days of soaker rain.

Agree with the rain Mike. Even 3 days of rain wouldn't be too much. No reserve in the ground. I drilled down 15 inches and still didn't hit any moisture.

South and West of KC is an area that would qualify for "drought stricken". We are okay here in Bates County.

Talk of scattered frost Sat morning. Bring it on ! Hopefully this front will bring some moisture. Gravel roads are so dusty that meeting another vehicle you have to stop to allow the dust to settle enough to see.

I took Candi on a float down the Niangua (8 miles) today, her first time in a kayak. It was just about perfect weather. We'll pay for it.

Weather clown said no rain for a week and it is sprinkling this morning. Lately I have had the heater on in the morning and the AC on in the afternoon commuting to work in the ghetto.

Not much on AC in a vehicle. When I was on jobs in the ghetto and had to lock up my truck, I'd run the AC about 5 minutes leaving work to blow the hot air out of the truck then turn it off for the drive home.
Warmer this morning than it has been but still not too bad. Sprinkles here but no "rain".

Just got a few sprinkles here too! Hell, I can still piss harder than that! It didn't last long and never even got the ground wet. No measurable rain forecasted for another week or so.

Got up at 5 am and it was 38degrees. As it got closer to sunup the temp dropped. Right before light the thermometer said 35 but it is 8 ft off the ground. I ran outside and scraped frost off the windshield. It has officially frosted. Dang glad I covered the tomatoes and peppers last night with tarps. Hopefully the are okay. Frost on the punkin. Time for Peter Duncan.
