I'll agree with snagger on this. After my experience with a duke cs last winter I will never use them again. Duke 1.5 CS vs 1 bobcat = 1 bent frame and popped jaws so nope their not gonna be in my trap shed. thank you. my 1.5 is all I can say is worth it. they did weaken, but for coon and fox, they don't need much. but a yote is a very aggressive animal, and my traps need to be as sturdy as possible.

I used to bad mouth dukes. Now I don't care. If somebody is going to steal a trap of mine then it might as well be a duke......

never had a trap stolen in my life... Wish I could say that. I had ALL of my trappin stuff stolen out of my dads shed . That's why I had to start all over llast year. Replaced most of the essentials this summer, can now just buy stuff here and there as needed (wanted)

You don't have to replace them with Duke springs, any other brand will work too.

No way tour going to hurt coil springs by boiling, direct flame/heat to the springs yes,but not in boiling water.
Springs go bad only if corrosion gets to them(rust or pitting),long periods of use(opening and closing),or poor engineering(bad design, poor material, etc.)

I guess some coon hunter needed "MY" coon worse than I did. At least he was nice enuff to leave my trap.

I had the opposite problem with my Duke 330s. The springs were stronger than I cared for. I have left them set for 3 years (on safeties) and notice no difference.

I also used to joke about how many mods a duke needed. I don't want to lose a cat like Pops. Here is some of my "poor Boys" that I laminated and base plated and nightlatched and swiveled and bubble welded the jaws. Do all that and you have a decent trap. Springs are just fine two coil.

My Duke 330's are just as strong as they were 5 years ago. Have to agree with bverboy about never too strong. Let an otter get suitcased in an "iffy" conibear and you may find him gone the next check.
