Well good morning fellow trappers. My name is Greg, I was born and raised in Rolla, MO. I am a true outdoorsman. My friends tell me I was born 200 years to late. I spend all of my free time outdoors. I have a daughter who is 2 1/2 years old. I already have her in the woods with me learning the skill's. I am a former US Marine, volunteer with the local fire department and work full time as a deputy sheriff. Well I hope to meet up with everyone at some of the MTA events. Most of my friends tell me I am crazy so thats how I come up with my profile name "Crazy1." If you have any questions feel free to ask, the only stupid question is one not asked.

My name is Richard Florence II I was born in Long Beach California my dad was in the Navy for 22 years we lived on the West Coast most of my young childhood. After my dad retired from the Navy we moved here to MO where most of my moms family lived and I was raised the rest of my youth. I grew up in Toas MO now live in Jefferson City MO I graduated from Blair Oaks High in 85. I am married to my wonderful wife Christine and have 5 children from age 15 to 30 years old. I have loved fishing since I was old enough to hold a fishing pole on my own and it wasnt until I was around 13 that I started hunting and I hunted everything that moved that was in season. I just got interested and started trapping 2 seasons ago when I started following some members trapping seasons on MissouriWhiteTails.com which led me to here. I only had 2 traps 1 cage trap and 1 lil griz gettr this past season I had 13 lil grizz"s and each time I sold fur I purchased more traps. 330 coni's 110 coni's and recently some #3 foot holds and a few other mixed assortment. I really love trapping and picked up a lot of good pointers and tips at the trappers clinic that was held in Laurie MO back in Feb. My goal this trapping season is to catch a bobcat everything else will be just a bonus, I am more interested in water trapping than land trapping but need to know both in order to catch a variety of critters.

Hi trappers, my name is Lee Steinmeyer. I now live in Wheaton Ks, but for years lived in Manhattan Ks. Been a trapper just about all my life, started the fall before my seventh birthday, and only missed 2 years of trapping till present. Was 65 in January. Love trapping and that was just about all I have done, no fishing or hunting, just trapping! Started the season every year in Wyoming for 25 years, but quit going in my early 50's cause I just couldn't go that hard anymore. Now I just trap for the fun, numbers arn't so important anymore! I've worked in Mo quite a lot over the years as a pipe line welder, and like the people and the country. When T-man went down, I stumbled onto your site and I hope you will allow this foreigner to invade your forum!

Just realized I never posted my bio. My name is clint. I am from dekalb county. Lived here most of my life. I am 24 been married for 2 years. I have 2 kids a little boy that's 4 and a beautiful little girl that's 3 months. I was in the army guard for 6 years. Currently work at a steel cable manufacturing plant. Although I have done lots of things. I do taxidermy as a hobby for myself and friends. Done a few for kids in my town for cost so they could mount their first deer. I think just because of some hard times or short cash kids still deserve to keep some memories for a lifetime.I've only trapped a couple years. Hunted for several though. Got into trapping cause I want to learn how everything was done 150 years ago. Would love my kids to know how to live without anything modern. Anyone that wants to know anymore can ask. I don't Mind telling cause I figure that either they like the answer or they won't. Don't figure it makes much difference to me either way. Y'all are a great bunch of people. Happy trapping!!

Hi Ray, and welcome. Loved that area of PA. Spent some time in Somerset county in the Allegheny mtns with a guy I was seeing up there. He had a cabin up there and we'd sit out on the deck and watch the bear come in at night. Also hiked at Blue Knob a few times. I loved it up there, but there's just no place like home...Missouri!

Hello everyone. My name is Mike. I live in western Kentucky. I'm an old geezer with two grown kids, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. I retired 8 years ago at age 55 on doctors orders. It sure wasn't my choice.
I'm still a rookie trapper. This will be my third season. I started trapping just to try and reduce timber and crop damage on my farm but got hooked pretty quick. I lurk on most of the trapping forums to add to my limited knowledge but thought I would join this one because it seems to me to be about the best fit for me. I see most members are in Missouri and there doesn't seem to much difference between Kentucky and Missouri in terms of game or terrain. Besides, everyone I ever met from Missouri was just plain good folks.
I really appreciate this site and the generous sharing of information. I don't expect to be able to add much info because of my limited experience but I might be able to add a little based on what works for me and what doesn't. I target beaver, coon, coyote, bobcats and otter but catch more possums and skunks than anything else. Mink and muskrats have about disappeared in my area since the otter population got so large but I'm going to try to catch a mink this year just so I can say I did.
Mike

Welcome Mike and thank you for those kind words. Alot of the early settlers in these parts came in from TN and KY. Yes, we all want bobcats and foxes and coons and wind up with possums and skunks...

Welcome Mike. You already taught me something! I knew the damage that otter do to fish populations, but didn't think how that impacts other species that also target fish...well, other than human anglers. That would certainly factor into the decrease in the mink populations.
