Hello my name is Brandon. Been reading a lot of posts here and figured I should introduce myself before I ask a bunch of beginner questions. I grew up south of Jeff city but a couple years ago moved to the Marshall area. I have hunted and fished all my life but just started trapping last year. I focus on coons primarily. But find myself reading more and more about trapping predators. I feel an addiction coming on and I'm ok with it. I recently married my longtime girlfriend and she enjoys trapping( in fair weather). I see a lot more info and less bs on this forum as opposed to others and I like that. Hope to get to meet some of you and pick your brain sometime.

No Townsend. At least not that I'm aware of. I'll probably jinx myself saying this but I've only caught one grinner this year. My dad doesn't trap. Wish I could say I had a cinnamon.

I live in Jackson but have 81 acres of land in Bollinger county No. 1 activity is Bow Hunting. I am just a simple landowner trapper, I trap them and shoot them, and drop them off to a fur buyer, that's it. Have skinned a few for myself and have them taxidermy when it something new.
It's 32 mile one direction to my land, I only trap my land at this time. Have been trapping off and on for a few years with just box traps, but for the last two years have pushed into other methods.
I am a self taught hunter, trapper and land manager.
I trap for the experience, the fun, better than sitting on couch, and management of my property. It's better than xmas everytime I run the line.
How much is a opossum, raccoon, fox, bobcat or coyote worth. For me it's one turkey egg, one fawn, one turkey. Anything else is just a cherry on top. LOL
I will be sad to see the season come to a end.
If I had a buidling out back and place to skin, stretch and dry I would go about it different. But this is better than nothing at this time.
30 days of trapping in 2013 4 Bobcats 3 Coyotes 6 Raccoons 5 Opossums
This year so far below is what I have trapped, but the next 30 days I will get serious. 2 Bobcats 1 Coyotes 1 Red Fox 9 Raccoons 12 Opossums
Not sure what else to put.

Hi, my name is Shawn and I am new to this site. Been wanting to try my hand at trapping for a while now and I stumbled upon this site. Anyway been looking at post and sent a message or two to members that I believe live close to me. I live in Troy, MO and have a farm that I have permission to hunt (110 acres?) Very close to my house in town. I am married and have 3 kids. The 1st and 2nd grader have been deer and turkey hunting with me, and would like to pass this onto them as well if I can learn anything. Any tips/suggestions would be great. What type of trap, etc? Anyone local want to show me or take me along I would appreciate it.
thanks shawn

My name is Jim Luetkenhaus. I live in Troy Missouri with my wife of almost 10 years and our 2 kids. I love the outdoors and the adventures it has to offer. I enjoy hunting trips in the spring and fall with the family. It's an awesome sight watching them harvest a turkey or deer. In the summer we go on float trips and it's an opportunity to teach a lesson or two about nature. Trapping is something that I've had an interest in for a long time. Last Christmas my wife and son gave me 3 traps as a gift. Little did they know that they just fueled the fire inside. I now own 30+/- leg holds, several Conis, and bought a dozen snares at the fall MTA convention, after taking the CR class. I have enjoyed visiting this site as a guest for a while now, learning a lot from many of you and would like to say thank you. Hopefully I can someday be of help to someone and forward the favor, thanks again for the help and a great forum.
