Yes sir that is a toilet site and one of the best locations to take your otter. Be sure if you find one to gang set the location. That meaning put alot of traps at that locations as most otter travel in groups of 3 to 4 or more. I group stopping at that toilet can really pile up some fur for you. ;D

No you were right in asking as the otter toilet was dried out and it makes it hard to see.

Back when I lived in IL. it wasn't legal to take otter. Good to see that they finely opened it up over there after all these years....
Sorry for not answering your question, but with Alton being along the Mississippi, I would say there would be a few or more running threw there.

When gang setting this ...... How far apart do you place the traps No real way to answer such a broad question without seeing the situation.Could be as little as a couple of feet for conibears blind set in a small ditch to a ten foot radius for toliet sets.

I would make at couple of dirt sets right there.First, pull up all that scat into a pile and bed 2 traps on either side of the pile about 12 inches out from it using some guiding to steer the otter over the traps.Next I'd move about 10 feet away and make a double dirthole set with the trap bedded in the center.I would also set a trap in the water where the exit or enter from the toilet.Early in the season it's not uncommon for several otter to be traveling together.
