The double dirthole is simply digging two dirtholes approx. 18 inches from each other, facing each other. Then you bed your trap right in the center of the 2 dirtholes.Bait one hole with fish and use either beaver castor or mink musk in the other hole.

Actually trkyslyr,On otter,I want that trap right between those two holes, not in front like for coyotes. In other words, both holes ,with trap inbetween are a straight line.I'm not sure why that trap placement works on otters, for me,but I assume it's due to the otters shorter legs.I know I've made that set mocked up (no trap)several time in off season and it always seemed that that is where the most consistant tracking was.

otter is another animal i never went after yet. i saw 7 last year when i stopped and looked over a bridge where i used to trap, well i trapped the property on both sides that is. i sure will try this set if i find a toliet , never seen one .how do you find them,do you find the tracks at water edge and fallow them up the bank and start just looking around. ?

Depending on how high the banks are,you can sometimes see them from the creek edge.If it is a heavily used toilet,it will be quite visible. They like to roll around in the grass and I've seen places 10 to 12 foot around where they have the grass matted down.Always set upstream or downstream in necked down areas of the creek also.Like I said, they'll be traveling in groups and you want to take as many as you can each trip through.
