Not here yet. We usually have reds up before morels and I think it's too early for them even.

I have seen it snow at the first of May. Seen morels sticking out of the snow. It was a real pity.

mmaxwell i would not disturb it with out a beekeeper. I keep bees and they are harmless unless disturbed. you should get a hive it is pretty cool to get your own honey off your property. And it tastes way better than the stuff at the store.

Wild honey gets harvested in the fall. Or winter for that matter. Give them a season to gather pollen and nectar. You will have to tear the tree apart to get the honey. Maybe just stick your arm in there and scoop out the comb. Survival is rough these days for bees with the noxemia and tracheal and Verona mite plaque. Also a new hive beetle that defecates in the comb. If nothing else, they raise your energy levels and pollinate your plants.

have wild bees in my hen bit for first time in several years, wish I could still see well enough to course them..
Maxwell, you just cut the tree down and cut it open where the honey is, it helps if you have some one who is scared of bees about 30 yards away as all the bees will attack him/her instead of you.

Odds are I wont mess with them, they can just do their thing, I will stop by the tree for a visit every now and then lol Tried to take some pictures of them coming and going but no luck
