Sometimes fox sign can be difficult to find, especially if in tall grass or on frozen terrain. Don't have any pics at the moment, but I can list some good productive locations if that might help. Levies, field entrances, the conversion of crop land to hay fields, tractor paths, and fence rows are all great for fox. On a barren field place any object that catches the eye, a chunk of wood, bone, or even a pile of leaves or grass, will take fox readily. Beaver meat on the snow is an all time favorite of mine, make sure to get cover above the beaver meat as birds of prey will come down to investigate the meat. Gray fox prefer the wooded, heavy cover areas, as where the red fox will travel all over. Make multiple sets in the same area as it is not uncommon to get doubles. Just remember if you want fox, you have to rid of the coyotes first.

Foxes habitually make distinctive scratchy marks as they throw dirt at their scent stations and droppings; so look for this sure sign that foxes are present. Also once a fox is caught, chances are better of catching more at the same set, since it now reeks of fox. Foxes will avoid a set where a coyote or opossum was caught, and you will have to relocate. Skunk and raccoon scent at a trap sight is not a deterrent to foxes. In fact, skunk essence is frequently used in fox lures. You may have to repair the set, but you won't have to change locations and start over. Sorry, no pics either, but hopes this helps.

Thats ok guys but the information you have given me was great. Hackworth i never knew that about catching a possum or a coyote in your fox sets will scare away foxes.
