Take a family member along

It's a good idea for a family member or close friend to run the line with you a time or two, just in case you happen to slip and get hurt or immobilized. This way someone will have an idea of where to look for you if something did arise.

It happens more than you would think. I have been there on just such a situation. Leave a map with the wife of your line. So if you dont make it back they will know where to look as midmo says. Plus your traps can be collected if you dont come back.

Good ideas.
I map it all on gps and have it uploaded on the computer. They can see where everything is and how I get there. We also got Rino GPS for the 2-way radio and the tracking. If I am late or radio in, they can see my position and how I got there. Figured I would rather be safe than to be dead. It was worth every dime.
Hopefully will have my daughter out with me tomorrow! She had too much to do today but will be running the line a few days a week with me. Good family time

I keep a two-way radio in my pocket. We're in a big ditch here, and even if I owned a cell-phone, it wouldn't work where I trap. The radio will reach to the house, or to some of the local duçk or deer hunters, or at least to the cb radio users on the highway.

Great Idea, not really practical though at least for me. and trust me if I ever go a lot of my traps will never be found.
