Hey guys,
I know Dale has been wanting to start a thread on modifications and adjustments so I'll get it going. Bought these traps this weekend.
You can see they are rusty and need to be cleaned up. I started with the pan. The back of it was a little uneven so I filed it square and added a bevel so that it would set off faster.
The dog on these have a bump on them that is supposed to give an audible click. These gave off a barely audible thud so I filed in front of the bump to make the night latch notch.
I discovered that the pan was real heavy on these and through trial and error I found that by filing off the front of the dog and beveling the bottom I could achieve the desired setting.
My end result was a nice level pan and I think a pretty good trap.
