Seems every year when the nights start cooling down the stray cats start invading around my bird feeders. Bad enough folks let their dogs run when dog catcher isn't on duty.
We used to have a couple of nuts that lived close by and would feed every stray cat that came around. Let the dogs out early in the mornings(on chain) and right away they'd raise the dickens. Yup they seen a cat. These people have sinced passed away or moved so the problem was slowly resolved over the summer. Now it's started again and again I'm dealing with it with the blessings of most the neighbors.

I got a crazy woman up the street that buy's special cat food online and has it delivered to her house to feed the 15 cats that run loose around here. Don't know if her husband finally put his foot down ro maybe the county climbed up her ass, but they cage trapped the bunch of them, took them somewhere to be spayed/neutered, THEN TURNED THEM ALL LOOSE AGAIN!!!!!

Bob our town did that. Craziest thing I ever heard of. Asked the animal control guy if they planned on catching and giving shot every year and he said yes. Evidently he has never tried to catch them after being caught once. Darn near impossible. My way they only have to be caught once.

We have a skunk that's hanging around the house. kinda like a cat, kinda not. Let the husky dog out to do it's business about 3 nights ago and she got sprayed. What a mess! The wife went to take her out this morning and saw the skunk again. So the live traps are coming out of the shed.

Skunks are very good mousers but them and dogs equal trouble. I had a dog that just couldn't resist jumping on a skunk once a year. She could pi$$ the wife off when this happened lol

I've got a couple of "barn cats" that do a pretty good job on the mouse population. If it wasn't for them, I'd use something other than a live trap. The husky dog had never seen a skunk until the other evening, she knows now! We had a hell of a time washing her in peroxide to try to get the smell out of that fur.

My hound got a taste of skunk a year ago. Now if you tell him to get after a skunk he just growls. Pioneers left skunks alone because they had no cats. They would allow a skunk to hang around. I have one of those "spray proof" skunk traps. Its a piece of pvc pipe with a guillotine door. I got it on trade but I guess they cost about $40. I use a coni if they did under my barn. The barn cats are on their own. They aint going in a skunk den anyway.

1 qt Hydrogen Peroxide 1/4 CUP Baking Soda 1 good squirt of Dish Soap (I like lemon scent)
Mix well and use, the results are instant and spectacular Don't try to save leftovers, the CO2 buildup will explode the container.

#1 enemy to small game. Once I removed them from the neighborhood the rabbits returned to the feeders. I remove everyone I come across while trapping and hunting. They are plenty had on songbirds.

They say no to try to wash a dog until you apply the solution. They say the water spreads the scent and locks it in. Some people wash a skunk in peroxide before they skin it.

Lets just say that nobody here allows feral cats to exist near them. Back in the day, Grumpy would have come unglued at the mention of harming a kitty and shut the post down and sent a warning to the author. Understand this stuff comes up on a search to anyone on the internet.
