It seems I stay this way any more. I don't deal well with people (a GREAT attribute when you work for the PUBLIC). I hate things that are harder than they need be. I HATE technology, and still refuse the cell phone thing. Oh boy.
So this is more of the tech thing. I got the call yesterday that the road is flooded again down at the Lake, 20 miles away. This is where I've caught a pile of otter and those stinkin' beaver that yearly plug up the culvert at the end of FF highway at Big Buffalo Creek. It's been a yearly thing lately as young beaver leave the main creek in search of greener, and wetter, pastures. They make a mess, flooding the neighbors yard all the way up to her back deck. And it's always in Sept/October.
So I go down there last night and set a couple of traps (and yes, I do this for free). Then I get home and think, "Gee, maybe I ought to get a trapping license". Yep, probably a good idea.
So to the MDC website I go, oh JOY. Since it was reported here that there is now a lifetime trappin' license, of course I opted for that. Whatever. I couldn't find it. Navigated around the site and got a great case of PISSEDOFF. Maybe there's a secret password or handshake or something. I was intelligent about it too. When it didn't show up on the regular permit page, I circumnavigated. I bifurcated. I finally regurgitated. Even checked a page that was dedicated to "lifetime permits". Nope. Nothin'.
I also found glaring mistakes that apparently all the smart and tech savvy college gradiates have missed, like under a "Hunting" page where there's a list of FISHING regs that show WRONG size limits and seasons. NO slot limit shown on catfish, for instance. It kind of gave me hope that maybe I'm not as stupid as I feel.
45 minutes in, and I just buy my yearly permit. It's just easier this way.
I'll continue to hate tech. Reckon I'm the last man standing. Ozarkmountainman all the way.
