Please take a moment to think of all the men that died on a shitty beach in France on this day 80 years ago. And, to all the Mothers, Wives and Kids that lost their Sons, Husbands and Fathers on this longest day, and the survivors that started that long walk to Berlin.

I ran across this youtube video & thought it was appropriate for this thread. “16 D Day Metal of Honor Heros”. Very interesting to say the least. May they rest in peace! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jbhqcvnwwc

The magnitude of the whole event is mind boggling. I am afraid that it could never happen today.

We now have a whole bunch of folks here because they didn't fight for freedom in their own country. What makes anyone think they would fight for ours ?

Modern warfare has changed the way "battles" are fought. Now, it's done by drones and high tech weapons that don't require a soldier to be anywhere near a "target." Lowers the number of KIA and wounded I guess. And in the past 3 1/2 years our leaders are paying other countries to do the fighting. Billions of dollars of which only a slight percentage goes toward weapons and supplies. Small wonder that a large portion of Americans are clueless regarding the military. Even when our troops are involved, it's a hushed up situation. Small groups of Special Forces go in and out and the public is none the wiser. God forbid we send a whole Division somewhere and hurt some country's feelings.

Talked to a kid that pulled out of Afganistan. He said they were instructed to fuel that 80 billion worth of tanks and helicopters and make sure the manuals were inside. Can you say high treason?

"treason noun trea·son ˈtrē-zᵊn Synonyms of treason 1 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family"
So since the orders came from the sovereign leader, the gift of weapons is not treason. It is in fact what "we the people" voted for. As hard as it might be to accept, the majority of American voters ("we the people") are anti-American and have been since the '90s (possibly since the '70s). Hence the widespread acceptance of Bush's Anti-patriot Act.

A lot of voters are either uninformed or simply don't care or both. Our leaders work to keep them that way. The rest of the voters are, in fact, anti-American. There's no big money in being a true patriot, but millions to be made from "donations" by foreign countries if you'll betray the USA. Washington DC is full of multi-million dollar political figures. They didn't make that money on the salary they earned from the Federal government.
