My normal slow start- I have five 'cat sets out total, for the 3rd and 4th night (haven't ran them today). None yet. I'll get into the creeks next week some, and then I take an away trip to northern MO sometime in January for ten days or so.
What will I do with all my money?

Got 5 beaver and 2 otter off a damage job couple weeks ago. Didn't have any traps out since then until today and set up 2 different otter jobs. Seems the first of the year is always when otter start making themselves known. Both these jobs appear to be family groups from the sign.
Had a rat watch me setting one lake and I'll be bringing some colony traps with me tomorrow.

one coyote and one coon. I had five traps set for a total of five nights. I have a mild hernia which makes my back hurt too, Trying to stay away from the doctor and this seems to be healing. Plus I caught the crud on Christmas. I still do what I can until I get to hurting. The kitchen table looks like a workshop with me making and rebuilding things.
I need to walk out the door right now to deer hunt. I need to catch the bobcat behind the house. I need to get down to the cottonwoods and do some coon calling. I need to roll the sawmill out of the barn and fire it up after I do some rearranging
I pity guys that sit in front of the TV and watch football and arent planning to do nothing until spring.
My Dad said, with all my problems, I should hibernate all winter and get better. He is one to talk....Geez he never sits still.

I have not set a trap yet. Don't know for sure if I will. I did power-wash and wax a couple dozen footholds a few weeks ago so I would be ready if I get the itch. I slayed a few possums a couple of months ago. Very few coon around here it seems. Nothing much on the game cameras except an occasional fox, a few coons, a yote now and then and some turkeys a couple of times a month.
The wife and I have been busy, busy, busy with jobs around the house. We did a complete kitchen remodel from floor to ceiling. We added a large 4 season sunroom (12.5' x 42'), put steel log siding on 3 sides of the house, removed 90% of the treated deck out back and replaced it with stamped concrete, removed the lattice above ground pool skirt and replaced it with treated 5/4" deck boards, replaced the 4" seamless gutters with 5 and 6" gutters with leaf guards, added some new and redid landscaping around the entire house, replaced a rotting 50' treated 6x6 retaining wall with Versi-block and I've worked now and then on clearing a thicket overgrown with cedars and multi-floral rose bushes. The intent was to make everything around here almost maintenance free so we can enjoy retirement and not have to work ourselves to death. And I intend to get the boat out on the water a lot this year.

Had a rat yesterday watching me while I was making an otter set in a pond. I had a colony trap with me so I threw it in the only run I could find. Well there he was this morning,no otter though, and I didn't see another bubble under the ice on the pond. Probably the only rat in there.

Not good today only 3 rats. I will say all but a handful of traps were on huts that were frozen in. Today I put out several more but the nice thing is I got permission to trap the rest of this marsh that's a mile and a half long with even more huts and rat sign everywhere. I'm going to try and put out a few cat sets tomorrow to.

Just my luck the owner of the first marsh is getting ready to drain it to do some stuff for duck hunting next year. I got 18 yesterday and 12 today so far I should be in the 50 or 60 range.

Well my rat trapping is done but I'm sure I'll pick up a few more while going after otters. I ended up with 84 rats out of that first marsh. I decided to wait till next year to trap the other marshes. Between the coyotes and Coons stealing my rats i should have had a least 100 .. not bad for playing around.

Sounds like you have a pretty good area for rats. I caught one that was watching make an otter set in a pond and didn't see another bubble under the ice.
