Gonna go with a buddy to sell his fur to Groneswald. We'll be going to Chillicothe. I'll report the prices I see so folks will have an idea of what's fur is going for. He'll have beaver, otter,a couple coons, and a mink.
I'm holding the little I have (5 beaver and 2 otter) to finish with other stuff I catch this season to sell at a later date.

There was only one other guy selling while we were there. Didn't hear any prices from him but he sold all his beaver.
My buddy threw both his otter into the window and was told $21 for one and $17 for the other. "Hand them back" he said and threw the beaver up next. They were green frozen the way they said they wanted them. $14 average was the offer,"Hand them back" was my buddy's reply. So he didn't even bother to throw his coon up there.

My buddy talked to Trevor Barnes and ask him about the market. Trevor told him that Groney had made some folks unhappy with their dealings also. Trevor thought the beaver market should hold and otter should advance some. He'll be buying at Clay Creech's place around Feb.

So Groney is lowball. I can remember "Lowball" easier than "Gronewald".

Sold 33 finished coon to Growenwold a few weeks ago, averaged $10.55. I was second in line and there were 15 or 20 trucks behind me when I left. I heard it took him 2 hours to get through everybody at his stop at Funke's a week or so ago. He is buying a lot of coon up here.

I sure would give gronnie a deer hide for a pair of gloves. I dont know how they can do that because it takes most of a hide to make a pair of gloves.

Looks like a lot of happy sellers at the Mo. auction with some good prices paid out. 17 buyers bidding on stuff creates higher prices. Commission was a straight $25.
This is an example of the Mo.Trappers Association working for it's members.

badger.....1.......47.50 beaver dry......30.50 avg.....52.50 high beaver green......22.89 avg.....46 high bobcat......80.35 avg........290 high coyote.....9.03 avg.......27 high otter dry....44.44 avg........52 high otter green.....42.17 avg.....47.50 high coon dry.....8.31 avg.......28.50 high coon green....2.78 avg......50 high
I talked to Clay and the top bobcat and coon(blond) were taxidermy buys. Several of the cats were taxidermy buys.
Unusual specimen usually do well at the sale.
