Those things get into everything. Can't keep beaver traps or snares working without the coons getting in them. Set two beaver snares yesterday and a coon ended up in both lol. That's a first for me. I'd used long extensions on them to wrap up the beaver and this allowed that to happen.

Had another coon yesterday so I just pulled. I'll wait until freeze up and catch it under the ice. I've caught 8 coons at this place and every one of them were at least 2x.
One was a dry sow that would have gone 3 x and had really nice fur. I skinned her just to see what her leather looked like and it was white. That was the only one I skinned and they all went to feed the eagles.
With low fur prices and snare mark around the shoulders they wouldn't be worth messing with.

Lasy year, I saved a couple coon. Skinned them open style and stretched them square. Much easier to tan and flat hide is more craft friendly. I never got a cased skin to lay flat later.

I had to traps some coons and possums here around the house. We have always had dogs and they got old and died and now we don’t have any. It wasn’t a week and we had coons getting into everything and crawling on vehicles , like a bunch of cats!!!

Same here. I am down to one dog in a kennel. He was sniffing at some trees the other day so I set some traps. I left a honey bucket out for the bees to rob and a coon licked it out. We shall see.

I've been catching some very nice coons and putting them up. I'll sell them at the ITA auction in January. Not a money making deal for sure, but I've been a coon trapper since I was a kid and I can't stop myself.

I don’t mind to catch a few but I’m to financially responsible to loose a bunch of money trapping them. At least if you go deer hunting or fishing you can eat what you catch but I can’t eat over 1 or 2 coons and I’m done for awhile.

Doing any good with those cages for cats? I've got 3 of the camtrips but haven't set them yet. Waiting for cold weather to avoid the coon.
