We are getting nuisance rain. Not enough to help just makes things soggy.

Got another 1/4 over night. Things are starting to get soggy here now. Thankfully all these rains have soaked in without much runoff.

Irony is that fields are too muddy to drive in now. That messes me up on running traps before work in the morning.

The rain we were supposed to get here never happened. Now the forecast says maybe Friday.

Been drizzeling for a week here, nice enough, but it's pretty cold with a stiff wind too. Not nice.

Friend and I talked about setting a beaver line on the Mo. Hes got a sea ark boat with encloser. Well they dropped the river so low this past week that we can't launch from any of the ramps close by. The feed dens behind many dykes are high and dry now.

Great camping weather. Cold in the morning and warm and sunny in the afternoon. No rain. A lot of guys are ticked off we are having bluebird weather. Need some rain and snow and cold to shake things up and get the critters moving.

Less than a quarter of an inch last night. Should have made the water critters last night though.

Well it has drizzled/rained here about all day. Just enough to get you wet if in it very long. It did hold off this morning to run the 4 traps I got out.

Saturday was yucky and it never rained but you got wet being outside. My least favorite weather. Went to the gun show and found a 10 gauge Lee handloader. Also bought a .45 percussion pistol. Ran home with much to do. I put new sights and ramrod on the pistol and went out in the furshed and cast #4 buckshot. That ten gauge with 54 pellets of buckshot is a long distance romancer. Geese have been coming over in huge flocks.Snows and canadians. I dont hunt geese because I dont like to eat them plus they mate for life. My buddies slaughter them and only save the breast. It doesnt grab me.

My brother hunts geese and ducks. He's tried many times to get me to go with him. Like Krank, I don't eat them. Any I've tried are greasy and just didn't taste good to me. No sense shooting anything I can't use. I've had people tell me that they have a way to cook them that makes them eatable. I've never seen it though.

We have several around here that guide for snows and blues. At times they may kill over a hundred in one day as they hop from fields to fields. They make a lot of summer sausage out of them, breast only.
I like duck as long as it isn't over cooked, it should be fairly fare. Over cooked it taste like liver to many.
Duck hunting has became a rich mans game here nowadays. Use to be a river hole, dozen decoys, and lead shot was enough to kill limits. These guys now will have robo ducks ,several dozen decoys, and that expensive heavy shot.

I got a buddy that duck hunts. Its all they do. He has a club and they get in the blind and cook tostidos and once in a while somebody kills a duck. My second cousin is responsible for the sand hill crane season in Kansas. He went to Topeka and spoke to Congress and got a season passed. He was a guide out of Cheyenne Bottoms. He swore that crane was the best bird on the planet. They have long beaks and will poke a dogs eyes out. My great grandfather liked to shoot ducks. He never shot one in flight. Dang waste of ammunition.
