Summertime I have to mow a couple times a week while sweating my butt off....Wintertime you can generate warmth by shoveling and just a few times during the winter.
Summertime you'll sweat your butt off running a chainsaw... Wintertime you'll generate your own heat.
Summertime hunting you have to fight the ticks, skeeters, and other bugs..Wintertime no bugs
Just a few of the things to make me prefer winter.

I like fall more than winter. Winter is snow and ice on the roads. I'm a homebody and can stay holed up here at the house for quite a while. But eventually I have to head into town. Plus it's always been a pain trying to get back and forth to work. I do enjoy walking the woods behind the house tracking deer in the snow though. Fall temps in the 40's-50's during the day and down into mid 30's at night suit me fine. Hot summer sucks. Can't do anything outside and you sweat to death trying to fish.

People are funny. I can be burning up hot and jump in the water and then I am cold. I think a human can survive in a tropical area better than an artic area. Its human nature to wish for winter in the summer and vise versa. I just wonder how wild animals get by in the summer. A coon has got to be loaded with ticks and miserable. Abundant food though. Then we wonder how they survive in the winter. I do seem to have more going on in the winter than the summer. I can take the cold but the heat makes me dizzy.

A person gets used to the temps if they aren't up and down too much. I never got into my truck during lunch or breaks when working but sat in the shade in hot weather and against a windbreak during cold.
Guys that would get into the vehicles to cool off or warm up away complained about the weather. I away told them if it was cold enough for me to wear insulated bibs at work then the job would shut down. In all my work years I could count on one hand the times I wore them. I've a pair of Carharts that are 30 years old that still look almost new lol

I'm one of those weird people that likes the hot, humid weather. It does slow me down a little, but I can work and play in it all day without much trouble.

I had a great Aunt and she had a nice farm and a big house and she refused to have air conditioning. She said it just spoils you. The irony is when you get a cold from air conditioning. When I was doing rough in house framing, I spent all day in the sun and sat in the shade for lunch. I was burnt black by March. I dont see how I did it and couldnt today. Every day the Sun gets more intense. Depletion of the Ozone is the cause. The government does more destruction to the ozone everyday than private industry has caused in all of history. I am surprised all these paid scientists havent picked up on that. I talked to a farmer building a giant machine shed. He said he wants everything under a roof. He said he wasnt worried about rain but was wanting everything out of the sun.

I have an odd reason for being anxious for winter. I keep junk and stash it behind the barn and in the fence row. Real handy if I need a piece of iron or a pipe or a wheel or a barrel. Right now, I cant find nothing. It is growed up in weeds. I usually spray and mow back there but this year the weeds went crazy. I am looking for a killing frost so I can be reunited with materials I need for projects.

Its all treasure. I put it out there so its not in the way and out of sight. Kinda like throwing it away but I can always retrieve what I need. Saved me a lot of money and trips to town. But, like I say, it is so growed up I am looking forward to frost so I can inventory what is there.

I have trees I dont want to kill. I actually spray behind the barn every year to kill all the ragweed. I sprayed first of July and it came back with a vengeance. If I want a total kill then I mix round up with crossbow brush killer.
