Looks like the MDC is having a clearance sale on deertags.
They are having a doe season in October with a limit of two (in my area)
Limit on bucks is now 4 with no antler restriction (in my area)
Poor deer are about to get hammered.

Missouri or Kansas? Can you provide the link, please. I don't see any changes for antlered deer in the state of Missouri, only antlerless deer.

When I contacted my agent a couple of weeks ago about tagging my stuff he was in north Mo. shuttling deer carcasses taken by sharpshooters and landowners in CWD areas. They were culling numbers and then testing those for CWD.
The threat of this disease has changed the face of deer management.

You can't kill enough deer in Morgan County. I had 18 out back an hour ago; there were 13 more 200 yards up the road, 2 more 75 yards further, then 11 in my buddies yard 1 mile away. THEN there were 9 more on the road just West of the Ambush. And this is normal (well the 18 in one group is a bunch). Everyone is hunting antlers around here. It'll be 2012 again, someday. Just watch.

A month ago, I saw 5 bucks chasing one doe. (Does keep coming into heat until they conceive) The smallest buck was 8 pts and they still had their horns. Last week when I burnt my prairie there was 5 does come out of there. Yes Morgan county is loaded. That hwy 52 out of Cole Camp has a dead deer every mile.

I had a game camera video a couple weeks ago of a small antlered buck chasing a doe. So....they're still getting some action. Several decent bucks in my area are still packing their racks.

My Dad hates deer. He says shoot them all. He has totaled two trucks hitting deer on highway. I told him that he needed a permit to shoot one and he said he doesnt if they are on his land. I told him the State says otherwise and he says to tell the state to get them off his land.

I with your dad, krank. I've hit 7 or 8 over the years driving back and forth to work. Did a job over at Moberly and had deer run infront of me every morning in the same place. Since it was always dark couldn't figure why in that spot. First time through there in the light I realized there was a food plot right next to the road.
To me, that 4 point rule means the young bucks are the spreaders of the disease. Does live their entire lives in a small area where the young bucks get ran out of the country by the dominate bucks.

The 4 point rule is flawed science because a 2 point buck can be 8 years old.

One of the most stupid laws. I reckon it's a money (trophy) thing. It does work to a degree- except for the stinkin' spikes.

I have had a few horn hunters claim that the 4 pt rule is working. I dont care because I am not a horn hunter (although I will take one)

I like big racks and I can not lie. That being said, I don't kill many deer sporting an impressive set of antlers. The area I hunt doesn't have the 4 point rule (yet), and I hope it never does. 99% of the deer I bring home are either does or 6 point (3x3's) or less. For me, it's about the meat. I'll admit I've let some does walk in hopes of that mossy horned buck following her. It most always results in no deer at all. There are a lot of big bodied deer walking around that don't meet the 4 point requirement and never will.

What about these whoosey tree stands that are popping up everywhere? I remember when a tree stand was a skid pallet stuck in the crotch of a tree. They are selling closed in fiberglass huts for $1200. I saw one with stairs and finished cabinets. I know an old man with propane heat in his. Its not illegal. Is it sporting? Do I think it's sissified or am I just jealous?

I'd say if folks had to brave the elements wouldn't be as near as many out there. Kinda like fair weather trappers. lol

I don't care for the enclosed stands or ground blinds either. Too many blind spots and I can't hear as well from them.
