I'm searching the internet, and trying to find 2 or 3 complete sets of Schroeder cage traps. Not interested in something that needs work or repair. I'd prefer the full nesting set of 3, but if you have individual traps, I'd be interested in those. I'm normally on Trapperman.com, but this website was suggested as a possibility of locating some traps.

Never heard of them so I went to their website. They said "call for pricing" and "big orders only". No wonder you are looking for another way.

Yeah, and I don't even think they are doing that anymore. I think they completely sold out. Used to be able to buy a nesting set of 3 for under $200. Tough as nails, handled coons just fine, and even big tom bobcats would fit in the smallest one. Great cages, just can't find any more.

Cam trip traps are nesting type.

Cam trip traps are nesting type. Yeah, but there is no frame to them. I use my cages for catching coons as well, and coons have torn up my buddy's cam trips more often than not. They do great on cats and fox, but not so much on coons.

Got ya. For coon I use William's traps. Those things are bullet proof but don't nest.

I haven't talked to Brian in way too long. And that's all on me. I bought the company from him, but with my bad/botched ankle and starting up the restaurant that's it. So all of the equipment is still in Louisiana. And that's all on me.

Right now is a bad time to start up a trap manufacturing company or is it?

You have no idea how many hours I've put into trying to find some more of these traps!!! I'm glad someone still has the plans / rights to these traps. Gives me hope that they will be available again at some point. Being busy and having a hard time getting them made is certainly understandable. But that is 1000 times better than, "The traps are dead and no longer possible to find".

Brian & Rosa traps were made good i still have some and still are using them My opinion doesn't mean much as I don't have a ton of experience on a trap line. Only about 5 years or so. But those cage traps that I got from them are absolutely awesome. They still look brand new after dozens of coons. It is THE ONLY DESIGN that I trust to hold a coon. Coons have absolutely demolished any other cage I've used.

I think Brian designed hilltops with coon on his mind. Here is my Hilltop with two coon.

Nice picture! That's the type of trap I'm after. Good, solid frame, hinged door instead of sliding door, plenty of room. I hate small traps. Depending on what Dale tells me, I may take a look at those. Thanks!!!

Okay, some history first ('cuz I dig history).
The Hilltop-style trap was originally invented by Wayne Freebersyzer over here between California. and Tipton MO. He and his wife were real characters, but Wayne was the real deal when it came to trapping. There's a SUPER video from the 70's with him and Charles Dobbins that was groundbreaking. Wayne was one of the early Wolfers who also went West every year.
Anyway, he came up with this trap design that was almost bullet-proof, and there have been few that I've seen that are as good. Or as SMART (but that's a Cunningham deal for later discussion if'n ya'll want).
I don't know my dates, but Wayne sold the company to Doren Miller. As far as I know Doren never built a trap.
Then came Brian & Rosa, and "Hilltop" was born. Brian re-engineered the design (the SMART part) and sold thousands of them. He also built the tail-stripper that so many folks use, stretchers (including the main design for Carlis' much-copied stretcher), the original "H" stands, choke poles, and what else am I forgetting... Oh yeah, some GREAT 'coon bait/lure.
More on it later- I've got a chore to do. Peace.
Dale
