Anybody used them? They have some Duke #3's with the padded jaws at work, but I have no experience with them.

I guess they work. Mandatory in Colorado. I have one my recently deceased brother bought me for Xmas at Walmart 30 years ago. Still hanging on a nail. Thanks for reminding me Sarge. I need to go find that.

I thought they were required in Canada, forgot about Colorado. They were clearing them out at work. Not sure if it's worth it or not. Stuff like changing out the pads could get expensive, depending on how often it has to be done.

I would buy them if they were 2 or 3 dollars apiece.

Coons make short work of the pads.

A guy could shoe the pads like a horseshoe.

Just wondered how they hold up to the abuse a coyote or cat puts a trap through. Also, is the grip the same as smooth metal jaws?

No real experience with them, but I've heard you need to remove them before boiling, to dye them or the rubber deteriorates.

That's kind of what I always thought about them. Extra expense and prep without gaining any performance advantage. But I've been wrong about lots of things before, so figured I ask around.

I know a few that used the #3 Victor padded jaws for live market coyotes and the #1 1/2 for fox live market.

Like I say, they could be modded. Would not be surprised if somebody made iron shoes to replace the rubber jaws.

Years ago I bought a milk crate of used traps at a farm auction. There was a 1 1/2 coil with chewed up padded jaws in the lot. Took the pads off and put rebar in their place. It looked horrible ( I suck at welding) and worked even worse. Someone at welding might make it work.

Looking over these traps on internet, it would be easy to fix them. Just remove the rubber and laminate with a wire feed welder.

I have a couple of Victor 1 1/2 rubber jaws. Haven't used them in years. When I did use them I didn't see any difference or advantage, so I quit using them. I think they were just a gimmick to satisfy the weak at heart.

FYI: Required for trapping Owl's and Hawks, and they work great for that.
