My old trapping partner recently got results back from the last auction. He sent a total of 116 skins. Most of it was coon, beaver along with a few rats and otter. I'm going off memory so I could be off on some of it, but I think his coon averaged around $5. Rats sold high but he didn't have a lot of them. Beaver was horrible, but it wasn't the best time of year to be selling them. Overall he was disappointed. Not that it will keep him from continue to trap. Commission and freight costs cut pretty deep into his fur check.

The stock market just yesterday dropped due to the news of China's money woes. This is our last and biggest user of our fur so guess what? If China goes the same as Russia did, you wont be able to give fur away.

China.....Root of all evil. Well...I have preached before there is taxidermy and tanned market domestically. A small flooded market.
