Orders some #4 Duke 4 coils a couple of days ago from Cumberland's Northwest. I used some for beaver trapping a few years ago and had decent success with them. I prefer the bigger 7 1/2 inch jaw spread of #5's but at $27.00 a piece it's a price thing. Right now every place I looked was sold out of MB750's (my favorite beaver trap). Plus I can use the #4's for predators if need be. Probably going to get some of the Montgomery #4 dogless. Didn't realize they had the same 6 1/2 inch spread as the Dukes until after I already ordered. Love using my old Monty's, curious as to if they match the quality of the older ones.

I got a few big traps. I sold a dozen Northwoods #4 double leaf springs to Yote to use up in maine.
I am kind of whimpy at water trapping and use coni's.

Planning on making a run on the river again this year. I like using BG's, no time consuming drowner set ups. But there's lots of places with plenty of sign that I just can't get one to work for me. Got two places in mind this year. One has beaver and otter sign every where, but no rats. The other has always been good for coon and rats but the beaver sign isn't there this year. Ideal situation would be to do a 10 day run on both.

It may be different by fall. I know last year, the floods changed alot including the river channel.

The flooding last year did change everything up. I was wanting to trap the Current River this year. The high water straightened the channel out, the water is swift, but beaver/otter sign everywhere. Haven't been on the Huzzah or Meramec for a while. Probably wait until fall to go. Too many city scatbums floating now. Last trip down them there was a decent amount of rats and coon. Beaver were scarce.

I used to see a lot of mink on the Current years ago.

My new traps are supposed to be delivered today by UPS. Also got some 330 triggers, a few of mine are either missing or down to one wire.

A thought on new traps....I started engraving my more valuable traps with my conservation number.
Its legal and it makes it undeniably yours if it got stolen.
I told a CA about that and he said it was fine. He did admit that he might consider it an unmarked trap as he is looking for the customary brass tag.
Doesnt hurt any thing. I put it on the baseplate on top where it would be hard to grind off.

Still waiting on UPS to deliver. Each day I got an e mail say delivery had been rescheduled for the following day. Now they stopped sending them. Luckily I'm not in a hurry.

I ordered parts for my saw. Website said same day shipping. Fast delivery. As soon as I hit the send button, it popped up "delayed due to Covid". Seriously? Waited a week then called them. Recording said they couldnt answer the phone due to covid. LOL I don't think the planned demic is going to slow down them running my credit card. Ordered a bullet mold from Dixie in January. Called a month later and they said they were backed up on orders placed in December. Lady said everybody was staying home because they were waiting on their stimulus checks. Too poor to drive to work. I laughed and said "cancel my order". Good thing I am not in a hurry.

Shipping has been a nightmare for many things causing shortages. Back on Feb 1st I ordered a muffler for my 4 wheeler. Guy said it usually takes a week. Finally got it 2nd week of March and realized the tailpipe with spark arrester was a separate piece. Only took a week to get it from another company.
If it is made in another country expect delays. We are we as a country going to realize this and only buy American? I, myself, make every effort to.

UPS and Fed Ex are real busy because everybody is shopping from home. I even know city people who buy groceries on line. If you get on Amazon, you can tell whats coming from China because it has extra shipping and month lead time. That company that I ordered saw parts from is American and the parts are in inventory so I am just waiting for some flunky to drop 3 screws in an envelope and ship it. A month is inexcusable. If they are that messed up then they have no business in business. I ship $10,000 worth of elevator parts everyday and everything ships the same day unless it is an assembly item.(then it ships the next day) Our company has been hit by covid with half the people gone and the customer doesnt know that. These companies that pull the covid card are pure chicken$hit in my book. Best one is the credit card companies. They have a recording that says they have a one hour wait due to covid. Seriously? All the world is calling the CC company to talk about covid??? I just call the stolen card line and get right through.

LOL, I bought a boomless sprayer for my 4 wheeler. When setting it up & testing it, it wasn't working right. Called their tech support and after the 2nd call, they said they would send me a new pump. Got it in less than a week. However it had the wrong shipping info inside the box. Someone in Ohio had placed an order & they put his paperwork in my box, and apparently my paperwork in his box. I wasn't worried & just forgot about it. Well, apparently he was worried, as yesterday I got another new pump from them!

Still no traps. Trying to track a package through UPS is impossible. It's impossible to talk to a live person. Maybe it was returned to Cumberlands? Maybe it was delivered to somewhere unknown. UPS recording claimed they tried to deliver on 04/07/21 and 04/08/21 and were unable to do so. BS. Someone is home at my place 24/7. No note left, no instructions as to where to pick it up....nothing. I'm beyond pissed. The "UPS stores" are no help either. They can't track a package coming to you, just what ships out of the location. Over the past years, UPS was pretty reliable. Now they have different drivers who are useless.

Best luck I had with UPS was the "chat line". You are not liable for loss, that is the burden of the sender.

Read lots of comments on the UPS site, most all of them negative. People having same problem I am. Fed-Ex is no better here. Found a package in the ditch line of my driveway addressed to my neighbor. Took it to them, they said they had given up on receiving it. Granted, my drive is rough, but not THAT bad. Guess I'll call Cumberland tomorrow and see if the traps were returned there.

Got to drive into town today for an eye exam. I'm only about three years overdue, LOL. Then going to the UPS terminal to find my traps. They don't list their phone number anymore, so just gonna show up and ask WTF. Guess they got tired of people calling about stuff they didn't deliver. I'd like to place another order at Cumberland but afraid to until I find the first one.

I've heard of people having trouble when ordering from Cumberland in the past. Said it took them forever to get stuff from them.

In this case at least, Cumberland shipped within a couple of days. Problem is UPS 100%. Went to their terminal and asked where my traps were. Gave my name, address and tracking number. Guy kinda stalled a bit and finally went to the back to check on it. Came back and told me they tried to deliver twice. I called BS on it. Said the "new driver" just didn't want to go up the driveway. Told me he used to be the driver on my route, described my drive and the circle drive in front of the house. Asked him "if you delivered there, what's the problem?" He said "well, you know how these millennium guys are." Then told me my traps were returned to Cumberland yesterday. I was beyond pissed and told him so. Now I have to call to get them sent back. He suggested next time I call when a package is due to arrive and they'll hold it there. Told him I would have if they'd publish the damn phone number. Also asked why they need drivers if I have to drive 20 miles to come pick it up?

Boy oh boy, Sarge. Better pour a drink and take a nerve pill. Yeah, I had F&T tell me to call my local UPS terminal to find my coni-stands. I told him he was a comedian. Finally found the package in the seat of my wifes car. Package was "delivered" but no where in sight. I hate Midway Supply in Columbia. I got in to it with them years ago and avoided them since. Other day I wanted .243 dies and 100 grain bullets. NOBODY had anything. Grafs, natchez, cabellas, Ballistic all sold out with no backorder. So I sucked it up and ordered from Midway. As soon as I placed the order, I got a reply it was "shipping today". That was Wednesday. Tracked package and it will be delivered next Wednesday. Wow. Five days to go 100 miles. Impressive.
