www.missouritrappers.com/fur-auctionNo surprises. A few high priced taxidermy cats pulled the average up on cats. maybe same with foxes. Possums are looking good! Glad MTA continues to host a sale.

So is a nice put up possum worth more than a coon? I suspect so...

Skinning and putting up possums is the worst. They have a smell that, to me, is worse than any coyote. But I guess money is money.

Possums do have a twang to them. Some worse than others. Always saved them and skinned them and got surprised at auction. As a kid, that $1.50 was 3 gallons of gas or three packs of cigarettes. Us kids didnt have no use for gas but we liked our ciggies.

I've mentioned it before, but, that's how I started my oldest son. Almost from the time he was able to walk he went with me on the line. I never bothered with possums. He asked one day why and I told him he could skin every one and keep whatever money they brought. He turned into a possum skinning machine. Back then they brought anywhere from .25 to .75 each. Can't recall exactly how much he made (although he probably does) but enough to keep him trapping.
