No longer am I a professional full time trapper. My body cant do it. But, my Grandson Ridge and Me caught a few coons, rats, possums, etc. We averaged 5 for coon and rats, possums a dollar, and castor, from 6 beavers sold for, to me, a whopping 91.00. If I was still able, at these prices i could still make it full time. Those days are gone. Overall very happy with Greenwald, and they were also nice people.

Heard nothing but good about them. All of my fur is still in the freezer. I'll start working it up in late February I think.
And I feel your pain. I very much planned on a 100+ trap predator line. Not happening. I've caught 151 of the 500 'coon I'd planned on. Just too much work and pain involved. And I haven't even got to the water stuff yet. Sucks.

Land trapping doesnt bother me (much) but that water trapping wears me out with the chest waders and heavy gear and climbing 60 degree banks.

I met Gronwoeld in Licking yesterday morning. I sold 294 green coons. 2.25 doe 244 and .25 for 50 I broke even. 10 each for green otters 2.94 ave for finished rats $3 for a big buck mink pelt 20 each for 5 green yote pelts $5 for 13 beavers Whew! Glad to get that stuff out of here. I either lost a little or broke even. Great trip! Low markets are great for the fur dealer. Impossible to lose much!!

Sixty-degree banks... Hmmm. Flatlanders.

Had a young man (late teens) come to the gun counter a couple of weeks ago with his mother. She was looking for a .22 revolver he could carry on his trapline. We talked for a while and he was trying to trap predators. I drew him a picture of a dirt hole set and explained it needed to be bedded solid. Mom was back in a couple of days ago with photos on her phone of him with a pile of possums and one gray fox. I hope his fur sells high. Feels good to see a future trapper.

There are guys thrilled about trapping and jumping in. Unfortunately, they are all on fecebook. One kid was on there saying he wanted to be a fur buyer and Peterman asked him who he planned to sell to. You would think that these fur prices would drive down the price of traps but I am seeing used traps advertised for more than retail.

If I had to start over I couldn't afford it. Last "new to me" traps I bought were at conventions, mostly Montgomery dogless. My trapping partner spent a bunch of money on DP's. I told him, "they're just a fad, they'll never catch on." Yeah, I called that one, huh? That year he caught a ton of coon and I struggled to make a decent catch. Like most others here I been through the years of bad fur prices and trapped anyway. It's always been catch numbers to make money. Even more so now.

I like doing some ADC work but there are some legalities involved (of which I do not understand) Catch a beaver and impress a landowner and get a new place to hunt. Hard to put a price on that.
