I always enjoyed the Laurie Clinic. The one year when my son and daughter in law were there doing the bow making demo on the stage inside was my second favorite time . Meeting folks in person is always so much fun after sorta getting to know them on the forum. My favorite year was the year I stayed nearby at a local motel with my youngest son and a friend of his, and we partied and had wonderfully grilled steaks that Ozark MOuntain Man brought in. It was fun. Several trappers showed up and it was pretty perfect.
Those days are probably over. Sad, but true.
I may just pop in and say hi to Krank, Ozark Mountain Man, Big Bad John, Turkey Slayer, and whomever else shows up. But, I will leave my fur buying shite at home. haha

I always try to buy something from Dean. He is the store owner that lets us in. One thing to consider is he sells gunpowder and primers. You can avoid paying the hazmat fee and shipping that Graffs and Midway charges. He also sells lead shot that is reclaimed for half price. I bring stuff to trade but usually go home with more than I brought. I remember the year of the Drop Anchor Motel. I came down Saturday morning and knew you all had a good time because you were hungover as hell.

I had to be sure everyone else didn't get too rowdy! haha Best beef steaks I have every eaten!!

A lot of fun and great steaks, raised locally by a fat boy that I know...
You need a fur buyer there. Period. Since there's just one buying, has anyone contacted him? Again?

A lot of fun and great steaks, raised locally by a fat boy that I know... You need a fur buyer there. Period. Since there's just one buying, has anyone contacted him? Again? No, I am not the only buyer left but am still the second youngest. Was the youngest until Peterman began buying a few years back. I am only 65 and began when I retired from full time teaching at 49. I spend 10% of my time buying furs from locals within a 150 mile radius and 90% percent of my other waking hours doing things I enjoy! Great business to be in! That is why I have so much GD competition. Some day, one of you will swell up and spend $100 to be a fur buyer and I will gladly send my trappers in your direction. Some day someone on this or the trapperboy forum will get up the gumption to buy furs. But, in 16 years I have found no takers. Huge empty hole in this 150 mile radius except for Peterman. Guess those AR trappers will have to drive 200 mile to his ship to get a $2 average on their coons and the market prices for southern furs for everything else. Some boy needs to swell up and start buying!! haha Peterman rocks! But, we do lots of business but he does not want our stinkin coons!!

Dale is referring to Mr. Peterman and yes,the organizers would do well to call him again. Or somebody. I think attendance is less than half with no furbuyer.

Will there be any vendors there? Buy you one of them thar fur dealin licenses for 100 bucks and buy fur up there. brokenwheel. You could buy lots of furs and get super reeech like me and Peterman. I guarantee ya, Conservation dept. would speed up the process and you would be legal by Saturday. This state and all surrounding states are desperate for buyers. Trappers have no place to sell except nafa.haha FHA and Groenwald are the only options. Groeny would probably have had someone there if you fellars had asked. Gotta think way ahead in order to survive in these tumultous times. haha

Usually there is plenty of "flea market" stuff. Guys bring traps and such in their trucks and drop the tailgate to conduct business. I usually sell about $150 worth of stuff and buy $200 worth.

Just got back. Good to see everybody. Dale made a cameo appearance. Cletis put on a marvelous demo. Appleroad for all. Don made chili and hot dog and handled things. M.D.Smith was there to tag CITES. A gentleman who everyone else but me knows showed up with a trailer of trapping supplies. Jim was there hopping around on one leg.
