That doesn't look like a very good sale. Castor prices looked good though. Wonder how many buyers they had?

After looking at the Iowa site I understand those prices better. Just like anywhere quality fur, properly putup, and larger sizes will bring good money.

Yep! I am sure you can find a breakdown on the prices for the green, whole, finished, and taxidermy stuff somewhere but I do not take the markets seriously and more. I buy to break even, make a buck or maybe even make 5, when buy a $5 dollar grey in the whole for 15 and sell for 20 and the happy taxidermist pays the shipping. But, most folks do not have access to animals like we fortunate Missourians do! Cat for 50 sells for 60. Skin it and please do not bring it here! Worth almost nothing!
Why doesn't anyone on this forum or even trapperboy forum buy fur? I would quit but would leave every serious ole time trapper without a place to sell. Some Day, someone on this site will buy fur and getrdun. Won't make any money but will make lots of super cool friends!
Peterman is only furbuyer with 3 hours unless I am missing someone. He is a stud and great buyer even though he is not interested in fur that I buy. Super guy to deal with and very honest. AR apparently does not have a fur buyer. Sad. If they do, why do people drive up from little rock to sell coon for 1.50?
Please, someone take the torch and buy fur! Costs $100 bucks and you will get rich!!
$100 and I will give you all of my customers. only have 300 but they are precious but quickly disappearing back to mother nature where they came from.
Getrdun!!

5 years ago, I thought about buying fur. Biggest problem is I don't know what I am doing. My idea was buy in the round and finish and send off to auction. I remember back in the early 80s that Parmelee built a fur barn next to the highway in Urich. They lasted two years and folded up. I would speculate they were thrilled by the big boon in the late 70s and caught the tail end of it. Surprised deer hides are so cheap. A good braintanned buckskin fetches about $10 per sq ft. Am I reading right that there was a $10 possum?

That $10 possum was an all white that went to a taxidermist.

That $10 possum was an all white that went to a taxidermist. Yep! The averages are still low but totally skewed upward by a few taxidermy critters. I paid 125 for a pretty nice, but not super, big tom bobcat recently but only because a taxidermist in Iowa desperately needed it for some reason and was willing to pay 125 plus 25 shipping. Done deal. Win,win, win situation. I am so old I don't have to get rich off of a trapper to win. Winning is being part of a successful transaction. Most the cats I buy are 50 if unskinned and not damaged too much. I hope no one brings me skinned cats! beautiful to look at but not wanted.

Wish I had kept them and had them tanned.

I couple of years ago, Greg Shroeder with FHA was looking at my fur at a pickup. He said I had nice possums and they would bring more than my coon. (and they did)
