I have a MDC ford site on my way home from work that would be convenient for me to maybe trap. Do they allow that kind of stuff.
Also, I am looking into national forest near me as well but am not sure what is private and what is public. I was told I could order maps but I would rather not buy any. Any ideas?

Google….Look up conservation areas and see what the rules are for that particular place. They differ at each location. Pull up google maps and see the public land boundaries. I know a kid that just got out of the military and has all the apps on his phone and a GPS. He can scout a place he has never been just by knowing landowners name. Biggest problem with public land is that it is public.

Suppose to apply for areas 30 days before season but area managers will usually work with you if no one else has applied. Rules vary and are made by the area manager. You may be limited to DPs, underwater sets only, or other restrictions. Like krank stated, keep in mind this is public land and act accordingly.

My biggest problem with public land is access. Its all walk in. The area is a mile wide and had a parking lot for 4 cars. I made a roll around cart out of bicycle wheels.
