So,
The wife needs wax for cheese making and I will need wax for trap maintenance along with dye or so my research so far tells me. Like every year?
Apparently only certain waxes are made for cheese and marketers of course want you to buy specific products labeled either Trap wax or cheese wax.
Any wax experts have some input?
I would like to be able to use the wax after cheese ageing on traps maybe?
May not want to use trap wax for cheese..

Both traps and cheese need paraffin. Clear and odorless. After much debate, the cheapest is Gulf wax at Walmart. It is expensive to get enough to fill a pot. Its like $2.50 a pound and it might take ten pounds. At the risk of boring you, save a lot of pain and a trip to the ER and suggest you use a double boiler to melt wax.

You do not have to wax a trap to use it. You just need to boil it to get the factory smell(oil) off it.

Don't put it on traps after cheese was on it. Your traps would smell like the cheese.

If you have dirty wax and suspect scent contamination, then boil the wax with water and let cool. The wax will be on top and the dirt will be on the bottom.
