My buddy went to a garage sale and saw an anvil. He asked an old lady and she said $5.She said it wasn't part of the sale but she would love to make it disappear before her husband got home. He was in such a hurry to load it and leave that he strained his milk.

Anvils cost $3 per pound. New ones are not worth bringing home.

Knew an old man that was a government purchaser. He said there was only one place in the world that made a decent anvil. It was in Germany and there was a guy that supervises the pouring and the forging. The guy died so they went to electronic monitoring of temperature and casting. He said that was the end of decent anvils. Harbor freight has a 50 pounder....

Harbor Freight's is 55 lbs, cast iron, and is very soft. I use a piece of RR Rail, works great!
