Its not like predator calling. Those coons come flying out and are ticked off. Me and my deceased brother in law did it a lot and used .22 autos and wore orange hats. My brother uses a sawed off 20 gauge double with #4 buck. Kind of comical really. Some sessions are like the wild, wild west. You need to contact Minaska and buy their sound file of various calls. I think it might be in the archieves.

I've downloaded some mp3 files & have a good bluetooth speaker. I'm going to try that first.

i plan on calling coons this year again, its a blast. i p use a fox pro, put it on the back side of the hole so it has to come out to see whats going on. alot of time i have no ideal where its hole is or if theres one. i just put the call where i can see it good and call. if they are there they will most like come right out or they will at least poke there head out. but never shoot one while still in the tree, theyll fall down in the hole and die. that tree wont be any good for over a year.

I have had 5 coon come out of a squirrels leaf nest. Still don't understand how they all fit. Yeah, its a waste to shoot unless they come all the way out of a knothole. That used to be a big problem with hounds. Dog would tree on a den tree and no getting them out. I had a brother in law that would go up there and drag them out. Not supposed to molest dens....

Why did I just envision Marcel with Jerry Clower?
