I'm planning to make the trappers weekend. Can someone show me the right way to put up cats that weekend? Im getting a lot of pictures of them close to the house. Thinking I might be able to make a little change on them this year.

Do you have a bobcat to use to demo? I am no expert but I think you need the right sized board and I think it is critical to time when you turn hide inside out to dry.

Never put one up but think I read or saw somewhere that you use coyote boards to put them up on? turkey slayer would be the one to ask, I'm sure there are a few others as well but he is the one for sure that I know that catches them.

Them adjustable boards are the way to go. I don't catch a lot of cat (maybe one every two years) so I saw a pine board custom for each one.

I use coyote board if the cat is big enough. The local buyer uses wire. The guys out west use collapsible/adjustable stretchers and pin the legs Nevada style. Marc said one time he puts the small ones on coon boards. Some guys like to shape the head part of the board a little different. I don't think on Mo. cats it will add a lot of value. They are thin and a bit fragile. Basically same as fox. Cut off lower lip and remove ear cartilage. Don't turn too soon or you will have wrinkles and don't wait too long or it will tear. I like to borax them heavy and "dry wash" the fur side with borax also. I also leave the front legs out and pin them up while some guys will stuff the leg back inside the belly, either way a half of a plastic coat hanger makes a nice spreader for the legs. Scroll down to page 28 www.nafa.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/NAFA_PeltHandlingManual-E-web.pdfPage 13 in this one furharvesters.com/pdf/pelthandling.pdfYou might notice the NAFA cat boards have pretty much the same dimensions as the NAFA coyote boards but that FHA uses a smaller more tapered board. Either house will accept fur put up on the other houses pattern. So will the country buyer. I have talked to fur buyers and they are perfectly cool with a little borax on the face and inside the front legs. If you want to know exactly how to put up bobcat then invest $15 in the NAFA dvd with Shroeder doing the demo. He tells what to do and not to do. I love that guy.....Jim Homan introduced me to him. Here is a picture of him at the Show Me barn in Versailles Mo when he put on a demo and hauled a FHA load back to Wisconsin. Attachment Deleted
