Has anybody ever been to this Hood Park in Cuba? I was wondering what the camping conditions might be like. I'll be tenting it so I won't need electric. Also, are there showers or is it a true roughing it place, I don't want to be offensive come Sunday morning.

Thanks Big John. That's what I needed to know. Now it's just a matter of gettin all my solo campin gear together and planning a menu that suits myself. How do they feel about fires? Do they have rings or pits or do you bring your own or can you build on the ground? I hate going someplace I've never been, you never know what to bring.

If you couldn't camp, have fires (and a shower) etc., you couldn't have a Rondy. Pure-D fact. Some things you just can't do without (and besides, it's the rules for a location to have all the above, and more).

Didn't mean to sound like a smart alack, it's just that the MTA (correctly) has in place a certain criteria for the grounds to hold the Rondy on. You have to have the basics.

Thanks for all you do for this site, Big Bad John! Can't imagine this site without you to keep us grounded and focused on the future. Wish You would run for president of MTA. Promise you would win. And, we might get some sensible things accomplished. My son met you once when he was a professor in your city and went out of his way to tell me he was impressed with your concern about doing the right thing. He and his wife are big time professors now in Ohio (he is the bowmaker a few of you met at the Laurie clinic a few years ago) but he still asks me what John is doing. I tell him you are managing the yote population!! You def made a strong impression. Honest, intelligent communicators have a way of affecting our future. Talk later, Silverfox

I didn't mean no harm or anything. It wasn't taken wrong, I appreciate your answer. Last year was my first year camping overnight at a rondy and I was ill prepared. I made it though, maybe some remember saturday night storm. It was a great time and one I look forward too every year. This year I want too stay till Sunday to help clean up but I'd like to be a bit more comfortable than I was last year. Hope to meet some of ya there but without trapboard name tags it's hard to put people together with there user name. I'll be the guy camped out by the red ford ranger, names Jim, feel free to drop by and say Hi. Thanks again.

Show up broke. Someone will give you a place to sleep. They'll feed you. You'll probably leave with some donated supplies. It what trappers do.
I don't know if I'm gonna make it. I had a blast at Montgomery City- maybe the best time ever. It's hard to pass that up, especially now that I don't have any responsibilities to the MTA.
We have a tradition- all the buds (and most years some new guys too) camp out together, eat together, and we lie to each other all weekend. The stories told, and some of the laughs we've had, are priceless. I've shared long nights in Brian and Rosa Cunningham's camp, as well as Carlis'. But the last few years it's the "new" guys, Jim Homan and Tom Olson non withstanding. And this year Tom's not gonna be there. Dad gum. Just isn't the same. Not at all.
We hang with Schroeder. We hang with Steinmeyer. Real good guys. I don't know. I'm gonna try, but there's always too much to do. It's the curse of being self-employed.
You do need to look up the T-Board "losers" campsite if you can Jim. You'll dig it. Unless I'm there, then you'll probably wonder what the hell happened.

I was at Montgomery and the past two years in Chillicothe. Last year I only stayed Friday night, but this year I'm in it for the long haul. I may even show up Thursday night, it all depends on when the wife leaves town to go bow hunting. Every year has its memories and there all good. I'll keep the T-board losers campsite in mind, sounds like fun.
