The membership has to vote on whether the rules and regulation committee will present the proposal to the MDC.

The membership has to vote on whether the rules and regulation committee will present the proposal to the MDC. Just to add what John said, after the proposal is presented to the MDC Regulations Committee, the committee evaluates several aspects of the proposal, sometimes getting other organizations involved such as the Sporting Hound Association or Coon Hunters Association, to get their input and concerns. If passed by the MDC Regulations Committee, it is the brought forth to the Conservation Commission for final approval or Disapproval. It's a pretty drawn out affair, taking several months to go through the process. The partially submerged conibear issue took six months, not even counting the process the MTA took. We've seen it on here referring the MTA officers as "The Powers That Be", in my opinion, the members are the powers that be, their numbers make all the difference.

Actually Mike there is a discussion period before the vote is taken then the proposal must be seconded before the vote is taken.

how so Rod? As Robbie pointed out, just because the members vote to pursue a proposed regs, there are still many hurtles to overcome to make it to the rules book. We have to remember that our wishes can't interfere with others using the same environment or resource to get the nod of approval of the MDC.

Well, in the process of things, the members need to show and the person that proposed this needs to show and explain. If they don't then it should be dismissed as a partially undeveloped thought. I assume this fellow thought it would be good to live trap late in season to release undesirable and non-target fur. That's pretty understandable but the downside is that its a very limited method and the start of the practice will spread into the main season. The justifiable fear is that antis will lobby to make MO a boxtrap state. That alone kills it.

And Im greatful for all that Robbie and the MTA has done for us. Im just sayin we are screwed because there aint gonna be enough spam to go around at the spring meetin. Introduce a cage only trapping season in Missouri, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! I wonder if the states that have lost their right to trap had their state trapper associations lead the anti's down the path on how to do it? you bet, ..... " aint no need in going " !!! What is a quorum? 40-50? of how many? 1%?
