I know everyone gets tired of Stickies at the top of a Board, but here's one more-
We used to have a thread that said something like "How To Use This Forum". It went by the wayside for whatever reason, so I thought, as simple as the title sounds, that I'd try to lay it down real simple-like once again.
Trapboard was originally started to be a place where Missouri trappers could come to share their experiences, and maybe learn something in the process. It has grown enough that we have trappers from other states (and Countries), and we of course welcome that. But the board gets confusing as to its content, and content placement. I think we need to clean house a little.
The Board is divided up into multiple sub-categories. The purpose of this is to separate the multitude of different types of information that we have to share. The problem is that many times this information is diluted and lost because it is posted in the wrong area. Bottom line-
If you want to talk about anything, use the Chat Board. Trapping-related items (i.e. How to make a Dirt Hole) have a place specifically for that information. Now, this is not a "rule" per say. No one is going to get warned or banned because they posted in the wrong place. Generally, if I feel it will help with the "flow" of the board, I'll move the thread myself, and the original poster will be notifies. Please don't take this personally. It's just our way of keeping the board moving in a good, solid, and educational direction.
Once in a while a pure TRAPPING subject belongs in the Chat Board. I myself sometimes place Upcoming Events there (with a reference to the "Upcoming Events" section where the item was originally placed) because I think that sometimes folks don't read much past the Chat Board.
So there you are. I appreciate your help in making all this happen. With the downturn in trapping interest, it's a good time to fix things up a little.
