Anybody else's coyotes sick this year. I caught 50 coyotes over 16 days and only 9 were female. I know disease takes out the females first. Also the fur quality has been awful this year and it hasn't been all mange. Out of 50 I probably skinned half. A lot of signs pointing to something wrong.

Three years ago I skinned five out of fifty-three. They were "rubbed" because it just never got cold enough. Only one with mange. This one is "rubbed"- D.W. Verts- Bigfoot Trapper

Last year was the first in about the last 5 that mange wasn't affecting the majority of my coyotes here.Caught 52 and skinned 41 last year.So far this year have only had 4 mangy ones and one rubbed too bad to skin. The fur quality is a lot better too. Talked to a fella running cables and he commented on the lack of coyote sign this year. I too have seen less sign than in the past, with less yoy than in the past. He said an old trapper told him that coyotes run in a 10 year cycle but I'd never heard that before.I'd thought with the number of rabbits this year that the population would have been up.
