I set a few coyote sets today. I'd rather get the cats and fox but I'll take the coyotes to. Between Powder River and Apple Road I should have something in the morning.

Does Ogorman still put PR on the lids of the bait? And do you know what that stands for?

Strike one. Nothing was touched. Not even the dps set aroung den trees. The squirrels were sure out in force this morning. Maybe the weather change will help.

1 pretty possum this morning. It'll make a nice tanned pelt for the wall.

Every 6th one is a bottle of lure. This is the first one I've caught in 3 years so yeah, pretty. Nice white head, silverish grey not black. It will make a nice one to tan and hang on the wall.

I'm not saying it's my favorite animal to catch but they do rob nests and I'll take it if I can get it. If a man is gonna set a trap he's got to accept what steps in it.

Well here's the final count. Out of 4 dps set around den trees I had 1 coon this morning and 3 predator sets I picked up 1 opossum and a nice male grey fox this morning.
Cletis, with all the rain we had the Apple Road worked. I found a 6" flat rock about 3" thick and poked a small hole in front with your bait for my set. That fox was caught deep in a 550. Thanks for offering a quality product.

I/d like to see any proof as to how many nests a possum gets. I don't think they have much effect at all. Think people want a reason to kill em is all. I don't even kill em anymore. Too slow, IMO. I quite killing them. Just toss them out of the trap anymore. Coon, fox, coyotes...yes....killing machines.
Tried Cletis's bait this year on a short coyote line. Was very impressed. Worked real well for me. Fox really liked it, too...what fox we have left.

I aint buyin in. Just because someone say so, doesn't make is so.
Personally, I don't see an adult turkey backing down from a possum. Turkeys seem to keep growing in numbers in some pretty possum infested areas.

They eat the eggs when they find a nest just like the skunks and raccoons do.

I/d like to know if turkeys defend a nest at all. Seems they would to me. Not like a pheasant that would just run. More like a goose that would run a possum off. Could be wrong but I think possums get blamed for more destruction than they do. Coons, fox, coyotes... and birds of prey picking off the chicks...I get that. Possum....hmmmm, not really sold on that one.
The part of MO that I trap is literately infested with possums. More than air itself it seems. Yet it produces some of the best turkey numbers in the state ( so I/m told). And I sure see a lot of turkeys as well.
Blame whatever you wish. I think the possum gets more blame than they deserve, personally.

Calvin around here the opossums kill more chickens than coons. A turkey will lay several days before she goes to sitting so if a opossum stumbles across the nest it's gone. A hen isn't going to put up a fight at night. There not a bad animal but I think with them not getting the diseases that the coons get I think they need thinned a little.

What part of the state do you trap? Might be able to make a little money off your turn outs...
