Cockles burrs that is. I think the coyotes seek them out and roll in them Takes about as long to pick them out as it does to flesh and board the pelts.

I've seen a bunch myself, and we're not really in cockle-burr country. Sure is tiresome pulling them from fur. Or the DOG.

I dislike both cockleburs and coyotes. Try not to deal with either...but have to kill a few of each ever year....and still hate em. Together they are worse.

Ha Ha Calvin,it's amazing to see them bouncing early in the morning at a set. Would much rather have fox but the coyotes have all but taken them out.Just don't like wading through the mud and slop water trapping although coyote trapping was almost as bad early. Wet warm weather was making it miserable early in the season.
Clay told me I needed a skinning machine but I'd never felt the need until yesterday. Had a good catch and with the temps around 7 degrees they were mostly froze by the time to skin and it was bitter. lol
Love trapping beaver also until it comes time to pack them back to the truck. Need to find a strong young man wanting to learn trapping them in exchange for the heavy work.Any takers out there?

I think coyotes start stinking 30 minutes before they get caught in a trap...... They can be very smelly at times!
