I found this present within 6 feet of a trap that I set just yesterday. What left it for me? It's about the size of a housecat in girth. About 2 inches long or so.

Not a single track there. The mud looks really gooey there. It's not. It's VERY STICKY and I looked in all directions for a track but didn't find one. I'm guessing it's a fox but not sure....

I don't own a house cat. But I have seen FAT house cats and skinny house cats... Whoops! I meant to put it's about the same girth as a housecat's poop's girth is. In other words, it's about as big around as a dime is.

I'm guessing it's a fox, but I'm just guessing. I sure don't know for sure!

So. I've never had anyone tell me what they thought it was......
About 30 feet from this poop I had a scent post set with wiley red 500 on the "post". I had a miss and I know it was a fox because I could smell the fox. Of course, it had pulled out. Then, I walked down the hill and had another miss. What could I be doing wrong? I have the pan tension set between 2 and 3 pounds and this is my third miss in two days. It's getting frustrating!

Generally, tootsie-roll poop means 'cat. And the sharp-tapered poop spells fox. BUT, the coloration ALSO says fox. What did it smell like. What did it TASTE like? Hmmm?

Possum poop will fool ya. Although there is nothing but green stuff coming out of them while you skin them, there poop isn't green at all, but it is pretty big in size. With what I see in the pic at about a "DIME" size or smaller (with pointed end), I would say a fox.
You say that "It's getting frustrating!", welcome to the world of trapping... You gotta start thinking like the animals that you trap, because the animals that you trap live in fear everyday of their lives, unlike you..
