This morning I was checking my DP traps. Had a nice sow. Dispatched her with my catch pole. Carried her to my SUV and put her in the back. Went to check one more trap and heard some movement in the back. Opened the lift gate and she was back from the dead. I know she was limp with no movement in the chest when i put her in there and then boom growling and swiping at me mad as a hornet. I grabbed her by her tail and threw her down grabbed my catch pole and she was gone. I assume she ascended into heaven or the woods quick as he**. Now i will just use zip ties to make sure there is no more breathing after they go out. I got a good rush of blood from that at 6 this morning. Thought I would share my fun with you guys.

I cant do it either, they are tough nails, even one I dunked in the creek wouldn't give up.

My cousin shot a coon 2 times in the head trying to dispatch it. After the second shot it went limp, he removed the coon and threw it over on the creek bank and started to remake the set. About halfway through he heard some shuffling about and looked over at his coon and it was back on its feet. Quick thinking and a nearby tree limb finally put it down for the count. They're tough critters that's for sure.

I was driving through Birch Tree one morning a few years ago after checking my traps and a guy asked me where I got the pet coyote! I looked in the back of the truck and the yote I thought was dead was sitting in the back looking around like he was my pet. Thank goodness he was still dazed!

I've never been able to dispatch a 'coon with a catch pole. D.W. Verts- Bigfoot Trapper Catch poles are a very low percentage way to dispatch coon. Tried once, won't do it again.

I think we've all tried it without success! I'm going to try the 220 on a stick method. It's ready to go. All I have to do is start trapping!

I dispatch all my coon with my choke stick. Am I the only one that figured out how to do it?

Am I the only one that shoots em? No! I've dispatched practically every one of mine that way! Maybe all of 'em. I'm tired of the mess though. Using the 220 Conibear on the next ones to see how I like that.

I'd rather shoot them and put them out there mesery quick than use a catch pole or hit them with an aluminum bat. My opinion though

I don't like the bloody mess or the hole in the pelt. Catch pole work just fine for me and a minute or 2 isn't that long, if done right.

login today i got two and both took about 2 min each. easy and quick. i dont like a bloody pelt. saw a dude on youtube that uses a 22cal air rifle seems to do the job quick and not too much blood. though it looked cool. 300+ for and air rifle is rich for my blood that is a lot of traps
