I'm a rookie in the trapping "hobby". Haven't done it since back in the 80's, and then I just dabbled in it. Back then there was a guy that had a "route" he'd travel buying furs. I'm just wondering where to sell the pelts I get. I'm planning on selling green fur right now, as I don't have the equipment for fleshing & hanging them to dry. I know I'll take a hit for not fleshing them, but due to several reasons I think I'll go the green fur route. Is there still fur buyers that go around buying furs? If not where can I sell them? How does everyone on here sell their furs? BTW I live in the Kansas City North area, not too far from Smithville.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome. There is a list of current MO fur buyers listed on this website under "Related Items" & "MO Fur Buyers Info". Someone will hopefully weigh-in and give you more specifics, but I'd look at that list first.

There is a Amish gentleman in Jamesport. Solomon Ropp. He buys whole animals, green fur or dried. I am brand new to this life and haven't sold to him yet. I do know he subtracts $3 per animal that is whole off the green price. He also has a complete trapping supply store and is far cheaper than I have found even on the web. I live in Liberty and it takes me about an hour and 15 minutes to get there. I will find his info and post it for you.

The list I posted has all of the dealers in MO. I suggest Derrick Peterman in Hickory country north of Bolivar. I have talked to him and think he will treat you fairly. There are lots of great buyers on the list! Mike Mueller in Sullivan may be a little far from you but is a good honest buyer!
As far as I know, I'm the only true scoundrel on the list!!
Let us know what you get for your pelts!

Bob,I don't think Groney ever traveled into Mo.I'm pretty sure it's Veirs he's thinking of. They still travel a route and it can be found on their website.

Thank's supertrap63, I think I've got it figured out, now all I need to do is to get out & get some pelts to sell! Got to get some things done around the homestead before I can go out, plus I've still got a few more things to trap with.
I've got some land down in the Ozarks & it seems that most of what is down there are ticks! Of course there are a few deer & turkeys. When people ask me about the Tick Ranch I tell them that we make a lot of money off them. Every year we round them up & export them to the Swiss & Germans. When they ask what they do with them, I'll tell them they put them in watches! Sometimes they'll ask how we round them up & I'll say that we found out that in Australia, they use henweighs to round theirs up. Most people will ask whats a henweigh & I'll tell them 10-12 pounds if you feed it right!
