Hate to beat a dead cat. But I hate when I can't find or get information, that I would think might be interesting to know and maybe for someone else to find interesting. But after 72 hours for learning more about this pattern on this cat, I am doing a little informal research for a column. I make about 35 dollars for the column. Now if I get enough information I may send it to a magazine, but that is a wait and see option. Because this is not a big source or scientifically done, it more for a general information. No specific names or numbers will be used. I have questions out to Biologist that have study bobcats, Furbearer Biologist, MDC staff, taxidermist, furburyers, and companies. Waiting for answers. It might be a small sample but would like to know your answers. 1. How many years have you been trapping? 2. Estimate only - How many bobcats in that time frame have you trapped? 3. In that same time frame how many bobcats with rosetta pattern have you caught? 4. In that same time frame how many bobcats with rosetta pattern have you seen? Finally Question for someone that has caught a bobcat with rosetta pattern. Did you sell the hide? Have mounted? Sell to Taxidermist? Thanks in for any and all responses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my fortieth year, although I was too busy chasin' little green fish for a lot of those years to trap like I wanted to. Also, we didn't have many 'cats until the mid-90's.

Horn tagger genetics is what plays the role. I don't know about the makeup in Missouri on such cats I can tell you that in the West they make up a larger percentage than 1 percent. I have trapped more an a couple of them and I have tagged lots of cats for others in my past as well and seen more than a few in that regard as well. Here is a big male I had one morning brought good money a few years back. The back pattern is neat but the wide white bellies with clear pronounced spots is to me even more rare and unique. This is a western cat.
