My patent US 8,881,447 B2 has finally issued after 3 years. Due to pending lawsuit against another the patent office has made sure there is no way this patent could be invalidated and has went through the quality control unit several times. So at this time I am the only trap that can legally use a shaped 2- way trigger. ANY DEALERS WHO WISH TO CONTINUE TO SELL WHAT STOCK THEY HAVE OF EITHER THE CROSS FIRE TRIGGER IN THE Z-TRAP OR EITHER OF THE TRAPS SOLD BY THE BUCKEYE TRAP COMPANY ARE URGED TO CONTACT ME AT SUDDEN VALLEY SUPPLY.

Good luck......you will have a battle on your hands if that is about all the other two way trigger dp traps.....is that what you are saying?

Battle? There is no battle. The patent was issued after a thorough investigation of everyone involved and all the facts revealed.
The Z trap guy has REPEATEDLY tried to patent and copy other peoples work.

I have heard of patent issues with the staking system too from other manufacturers. .....the z trap has sold thousands of those traps....I personally dont like push pull triggers.....takes away some of the control I have about catching non targets......like I said good luck to you.....since the dp craze hit...many different types have come out....I just buy the best trap for the money......and most are all over priced

Trappertom, Patent issues regarding staking issues??? Do you mean yhe stabilizer?? The only patent on any stabilizer that I am aware of is the Twist-Loc on the Grizz trap.
The stabilizer on the Duke DP is mine. No patent on it. I gave it to Bill Duke.
The Z trap guy stole Carlis's design then as you said marketed thousands of traps knowing full well he was wrongfully doing so.

As for non targets, going to call BS on that. Absolutely no more than in a pull type DP.

The main issue with patents is having the funds to try and litigate people from either making or attempting to sell items that are patent in the first place. I know a trap maker who thought about having a patent on his coyote trap years ago, but said after looking into it and what it would cost to fight said copiers of specific items and or design he would go broke.
Carlis do you have to pay a fee every so many years to keep your patent going? the reason I asked is I knew a guy that came out with a golf swing aid invention 12-15 years ago and had a patent on it but had to pay a fee I think every 5-7 years to keep it active or something along those lines that would cost him 5,000 or so? he couldn't afford it so let it drop and now a major manufacture copied his idea and makes it, he gave up on it because of the shear cost. He tried many ways to sell his product but never turned into what he needed to defend and keep a patent active.
My point is the way and process for copying someone's idea should have some protection without the need for people to have to hire attorneys and spend a lot of money to defend something they have been awarded from the patent office in the first place. Maybe they should have a fine system based on annual sale and sizes of Companies if someone tries to copy someone else invention small business gets a fine from the patent office, medium etc, etc.

Hey Carlis the one nitelite is selling is the freedom brand DP I think they are in with F&T trapping supply? So as far as I saw on their site they aren't making their own DP they handle dukes and the freedom DP.

A fee does have to be paid every so often to keep your patent in force. Can't remember now how often it was. Maintence fee is what it was called. Tom

Yes the fee increases with each payment. The first is due at 3 1/2 years. My patent is for a shaped 2-way trigger. The FB does not infringe on anyone. Now if they were to add a shape to that 2-way it would. They could have went and got a patent on that type of 2-way, but imo it would not be worth it as it would not solve any problems or serve any purpose as my previuos 2-way did not stop the bait theft as I set out to do. I did not see the Z-trap on their web site.

I just feel the patent office should protect the small business man over large entities as without the smaller guys like Carlis we wouldn't have some of the things we do today. as many larger outfits have no interest until something starts to make a lot of money and then they run with it. Talking more than just trapping on that subject.
I will state the coon dagger is my choice for DP traps.

Motrapperjohn....robertw...why are both of you saying you have patents.....robertw I see you posted this on itt.......as far as non targets.....I use a test tube stopper with a hole in it over the trigger.....in my opinion if you are using a push pull trigger.....you should no longer be able to call that a dog proof trap
