I am troubled by this question simply because I am unfamiliar with the auction process. On one hand I can ship to NAFA. I would have to have my fur to them by next weekend to make the February sale, which I was told last year was the sale to have your fur in. This perplexes me because I still have almost a month of season left, which would mean another hour and a half round trip to ship my fur and another wait for the check. Now, I could send to FHA. Best I can tell they don't have a February sale so I could ship all of my fur with them. I don't know what kind of incentive program they offer or if they even offer anything. Then my third option is to just meet Marc BEFORE the Lauri clinic and swindle him out of all of his money (insert big smile here)! Anyone want to jump in and educate me on the pros and cons of shipping versus selling to a helluva good guy?

The good hearted, gracious country buyer is going to sell your fur to NAFA. I pile fur in the freezer and finish after season is over and catch the March pick-up. Gives be something to do after Jan. 31st. There were years where I didnt trap much and shot some calling and just sold to the country buyer. We were both happy. If you got fur put up then ship to auction. NAFA or FHA or Groennies....

I don't have much fur this year so I'm wondering if it will even be worth my effort to ship them. As of now I have 2 coons and a mink that would be dry by this weekend. That would give me a total of 3 mink, 3 coon and 4 muskrats. Not had a real good season this year. Should I decide to hold what I've got and add whatever else I gather, is the later sales as good as the one in February?

The later sales are the BEST. Always. Unless they're not. Sometimes the first sale is the best. Sometimes another sale is the best. Sometimes they ALL suck.
Sell to Marc and call it good.
