What it the proper way to do it for fur? Do you skin them like a coon or do you skin the feet out too?

You skin it more like a coyote and fox then you do a coon, no money cut. The fur maket has no need for the claws.

Generally yes. Some folks cut them up pretty high- I like to leave the front legs long. After I turn the fur I stuff those legs up into the body. Makes them look NICE.
Be careful on 'cats. While not as thin as a red fox, they can tear, especially around the hips. As long as you take your time, bobcat skin easy.

X2 on what Dale said.
I personally on cats ring at the ankles and split the back side of the front legs from the ankles to the elbow. As they are drying fur in I tack those parts of the front legs open on small pieces of thin plywood so they can dry. When I turn them as Dale said, stuff the front legs back in and make sure they lay flat.

When selling them green do you just roll them up like you do a coon and bag it? Also does the game warden have to tag them before you can skin them?

I never "roll" a fur up (they could spoil, even in a freezer, from the insulating factor of all that tightly-wrapped fur). Instead, "fold" the fur over a couple of times, head and butt to the inside.
As far as regs- all you have to do is have an agent record the catch and give you a CITIES tag BEFORE you sell the fur. Easy.
Good luck, and keep us posted!

Old Shroeder on the NAFA video demonstrated skinning front legs down to the wrist. He said it is a nice surprise for the buyer and not wasteful. I rub borax on the arms to keep them from sticking when you tuck them inside as well as boraxing armpits and face.

Heck, I use borax on the whole 'cat- in fact I use it on ALL my light-bellied critters. Really shines and cleans them up.

Borax is worth it's weight in gold on cats. I do mine pretty much the same as Dale does his.

Make sure if you freeze the hide prior to tagging, you stick a pencil, stick, or other object thru the eye so you don't have to thaw it just to get it tagged... Lesson I learned last year...

use a inch peice of a drinking straw in the eye socket so it dont close up and you can have the warden slide the tag rite thru the hole in the straw and when you thaw to sell split the straw off the tag with scizzors
