We love to grill, and corn-on-the-cobb is one of our favorite treats. It's easy too-
I leave the shucks on- just fold them all the way back and tie them there with anything handy. Breadwrapper ties work, as do rubber bands... I put a layer of aluminum foil down to protect the shucks from the heat.
I use either coconut "milk" or garlic and butter to baste the corn. Turning every minute or so, and continue basting until the corn carmalizes and turns golden-brown. Yum. Good stuff, easy to fix, and it's eaten around here like Christmas candy.
We do cook exclusively over charcoal, or more specifically over LUMP charcoal.

Not lately- never enough time. We bought 500# for $100 last year. Hard to beat that price, even when makin' it yourself is so cheap.

Seen a guy on youtube make some. Seemed pretty simple to make, but he did just a little container of it to make black powder from it. #500 for $100 is dang good deal.

Charcoal making was what they did on the frontier. All them blacksmithes used charcoal. They didnt have coal. It was hard work chopping logs and stacking and burying with dirt and setting fire and digging all up. Didnt pay much either. I make a little for my forge. I use a 55 gal drum. That kingsford charcoal is getting too high to buy. That match light charcoal is garbage IMO. That $20 per cwt is looking good. I dont like cocoanut milk.YUK. Cocoanut oil is what theaters use on their popcorn.

Coconut milk on carmalized corn is a sweet deal Mike. I swear it is.
Coconut OIL is what I use to give my wife massages. Good stuff.
