Painting 1 Doz 330s and 2 Dos 110s. Iv always dipped my conibears. Got some new ones off the truck today and into the dishwasher with extra soap. Thought I would try paint. Brown Camo in color and they look good. Only time well tell how good it works. Kinda fun to do--RESOMAN--

what is your mix for dipping in the rustoleum? I think that is the way we are going to go with ours this year. we have a few 220's and they were dyed last year but man they sure rusted up as season went along. our 110's were not so bad.

I do this to all my conibears and my #1 & 1.5 that go in water.

Spray paint works just fine. 97 cents at walmart. Been several years ago but I posted pics of some I painted bright orange and bright pink that I caught beaver in. Repaint mine about every 2 years, its a lot easier than dipping and cheaper.

I put my thinned paint in a bucket that is wide enough for the traps and also has a lid. Put the traps inside the bucket and give the bucket a good shake. I used a cat litter bucket and was able to fit 330's in it.

I met a commercial fisher man many years ago who bleached his nets, he swore the whiter the net was the more fish he caught. I would have thought just the opposite dye them black so they cant see it? Just wonder if that concept would work with beaver and otter, they see that bright outline and just have to swim right trough it? Long time no see there kato. did you paint them all pink or orange? any thought on increase catch rates with a highly visible paint?

I know of someone that paints their 330's white. Says that the animals seem not to notice the white underwater and it is more or less invisible to the human eye when set in running water.
Got to remember, animals don't see in color, but just black and white, so they say.

I painted a few. I couldn't tell if it improved catch rate, but it didn't hurt it any. Been working out of town for several years and no time to trap or do much of anything. Back around home now so got a lot of catching up to do and get back in the game.

I paint 'em white to mottled/white, mostly because of otter. I stack them a couple to three deep and spray with Rustoleum out of a rattle can. Turn 'em over and do it again. Has worked for me for a long time.
I do spray paint some of my beaver foot holds to help camo them from Johnny.

Could you dip coil springs in paint. Would a fox be bothered by it/ smell it/dig up my trap. Going to this next season on every single trap I own. Since I've gotten so sure with this method and the way it protects traps I will be dipping everything, including my yote and fox traps in the spring. Leave them hang 2 weeks then put into a tote with dirt and pine branches. I did a test with a dozen traps last season and then just got too busy planting this year and forgot about doing all of them. The rustoleum and acetone method is for sure my go to for everything now. Steve
