Very disappointed in the grading of the rats I sent in... I held the best to ship and not one of my rats was graded SEL I don't get it... everyone who saw my fur said they were GREAT rats... Some even commented on them being "some of the best they'd seen from local the area" 6 were even graded as fall and every one was caught from late Jan to end of season... Guess we'll see how the $$ pans out as to whether or not I continue to ship I shipped 15 and here is the breakdown... Seven *I (don't know what the asterisk is for?) One SLT (I assume slightly damaged, but don't know how) The rest were I-II (one was PR,SPR, Cant find PR anywhere in the manual) The coons were better, only sent in 6 to test 3 SEL 1 I-II 1SDA (cant find this in the manual) I DGD (don't know which one or how)

I am always worried about the grading but really dont care if it brings a price. SDA still brings a good price. They absolutely insulted me on my grading but lets wait till the lady sings.

pr= poor, sda is slight damage which is still good grade. trky, it will drive you nuts if you try to figure it out. 2 of my otr graded singed. were not singed when they were shipped. sent 3 redfox, 2 real nice l-xl and 1 not much larger than a red squirrel and it went l-xl. figure that out? ?

Yeah, Don...wait till after your first year to rip them a new one. But yes, I agree they are harsher on their grading than last go around. Show me the $ and all is bygones.

trksylr, When you harvest the rats is irrelvant to how they grade. Adult rats are going to grade considerably different in January versus a young of the year (YOY) rat born in August.
Do you underatand how to grade rats by looking at the leather of a finished rat and tell the difference between fall rats from winter rats from from spring rats by just looking at the finished leather side of the pelt?
Have you noticed the stripes on the leather side of a finished rats? Seen the ones that are mottled with splotches? Ever see the ones that are solidly prime (no dark spots) but starting to turn peach colored around the kidney areas? This is how you determing Fall, Winter and Sprin rats.

No Robert, I am not too sure, as I am new to this. I am trying to learn as fast as I can. After downloading and looking at the manual, I cannot recall any of the rats we took looking like what they call "fall rats"
